Does Ebay Know the Tel# You are Calling From When you dial *67
 

As you know, we can use *67 to make a private call. I was wondering if Ebay has a sophisticated system, where they can detect the number even if I use *67. I am using a phone that has been linked to another account? Thank you.

If you call the toll free number they can see your number still

Do you mean that if I call 866-540-3229 and dial *67 they can still see my number?

Yes toll free numbers get to see caller id, you cant block it from a toll free number

I know this thread has a lot of US orientated discussion but I dont want to open another thread, so FYI for UK users, I once called Paypal using 141(followed by paypal number) and that automated guy that speaks at one point just repeated my number back to me and said something like is this the account your calling about? Made me go :O

So from then on I use #31# and works like a charm...

Never had an issue using 141 form the UK.

You were not ringing from a mobile by any chance were you?

Yup, was from a mobile. Does it matter whether mobile/landline?

141 does not always work from a mobile, hence your issue.

Need to go into the phone settings to hide your phone number on a mobile.
