Smart Router Linksys IP Address
 

Hey, long time no hear. I was wondering if anybody had purchased a newer router lately? I just bought a Linksys Smart (not so) router EA6350. I have been having a difficult time with changing the ip the way I did with my last Linksys. It was the wgt Linksys actually. Anyway, when I switch users and then switch mac ip on router plus unplug and replug everything it knocks me offline. The last router just signed on to the user account and I changed the mac address which changed the ip nicely. Any ideas out there? Take care.

One idea is to power down your MODEM and wait before turning back on for fresh IP. Turning off the Linksys won't do the trick normally.

Did you try changing the mac and restarting the device?

Not sure what your setup is like, would help if you gave more info, i.e. do you have

Modem > Router > PC

OR

Modem/Router (combined) > PC

In both cases, the first device in the chain is the one you need to be modifying/restarting (as rsot said)

I do all of the previous works for the ip address change. I have a pc desk top and I have been doing the user switching then changing ip by going into the router and changing the mac address to the account number I have have recorded in excel (thanks to you guys) then I unplug the back of my router and modem and restart my pc. It always came up perfect. All I did was switch from an old Linksys to a newer one Linksys Smart router. I have Comcast internet and I believe its a dynamic ip. Hopes this helps as much as you guys have in the past. Tnx

If you have followed the steps I mentioned, and it still doesnt work, just revert back to your old router mate. No point fussing around with this.
