Business growing and shipping (busy season)

Question: When you ship say 3-5 items per day (small amount).. then go to like say 50 then to 100. I'm prepping for the holidays and overall amping up all accounts with sales (listings increasing. How do you go about getting it to USPS? For the record I don't own a car but live 5 blocks away from a USPS. Any help or advice that is the smoothest method. Thanks

Get a taxi, im sure if you're selling 50-100 items a day (like me) you can afford a taxi there and back everyday and still reap in huge profits. Get ready, the best is yet to come from the holiday sales.

Check if USPS will offer a pick up service at your address.

However be careful they attend to everything and deliver correctly.

US cabbies would be far too lazy to take parcels.

:shhh:

Do you set something up with USPS? I mean 100 packages would fill up the drop off area pretty quick.

My local USPS has a bulk drop off in the back.

If you don't mind me asking what exactly happens? They must not check/care if your shipping under multiple names? Is it like the drop off area in the post office as you drop it off and be on your way or do you set it up with a time .... if you could describe the process I'd love to know! Thanks

Yes, you can call USPS and actually ask them to pick up. Some shipping methods may cost a little fee for pick up.

If you also tell them the amount of parcels, they may get the van to pick up instead of the typical mini cart.

For small little items I sometimes fill up the blue boxes in plazas and on corners, etc.. I have them all over town and use them sometimes when shipping from home or while traveling.
Might help in your situation.

They can get upset if you do that all the time, so be aware.

I live in Brooklyn, New York ...so leaving them in the front of my apartment isn't wise. Not that its in a unsafe neighborhood, just not wise. I guess I'll play it by year. I love this forum. That tip about filling up blue usps boxes might happen because one of things I will be selling is small enough to use first class.

You need to ship priority mail to schedule free pickup, and that could be one piece as long as it's priority mail

I tried it a year ago around this time and never had any problems when dropping packages off but in 2 weeks like 8 packages went missing, just never updated in tracking nothing, so after that I bring everything to the post office myself

If your able to bring your items yourself to the post office, I would suggest paying the cab fare, and get the items there unself, don't rely on anyone, because your responsible for whatever happens to the package, so at least when you bring the mail to the post office there are many other workers and cameras

But with a pickup it's one person and things can easily fall off there truck

See post above yours.

There are "carrier services" who simply pick up packages and drop them off. My work used one and I always see one almost daily at my ups center when dropping off.

See if a friend or someone in your complex can take you for a fee.

If you cant find a solution go get a 100$ huffy and install laundry baskets both front and back and hike the "5 blocks". ;) Now thats hard core!
