Name Variation risk

I am thinking about using first name variation, same last name with all other details different. I am worried about a potential SS# verification.
1) Does paypal do a ss# verification if you try to w/d over a certain amount? If so what amount is that?
2)If the first name is slightly mispelled and same last name and address is close to my real address, can it be linked? According to the stealth guide it should not...But I am hearing different from some responses...
3) I have read somewhere that Paypal usually ask for 2 of 3 documents as verification so you can avoid SS#...Is that true?

Paypal is required by law to collect SS# if you do 200 transactions or $20,000 a year, which ever comes first.

I have had no problems with 4 variations of my name, but all the addresses were 20+ miles apart. I would imagine if you are selling similar stuff and your account gets manually reviewed, it could cause a link.

Collecting SS# is a legal requirement by paypal, which you are unlikely to avoid by presenting documents. AFAIK, the only way to avoid it is to either keep the sales on an account below the threshold or provide a EIN.

Also worth considering...if you rotate sales among several accounts and operate well, it is possible to never be asked SSN...

Yeah the best thing to do is to rotate between accounts. It takes longer to accumulate ratings though.

I would never use a name variation....there is no good reason to.,,,..stealth is stealth....all it can end up doing, is getting you linked if a real person starts comparing accounts.....

The main problem with rotating accounts is that you don't build up a lot of watchers and sales so you never get premium placing on searches. That may not be an issue for some categories, but it's life or death for others.

There have always been a 3rd method - to create an European account (using a country that does NOT require a bank acc from the same country).

If you operate out of US though, that might create problems with the taxman because us wants you to report bank accounts and income outside US.
