Default 25/1250 limit increase on aged account

Hey! So I have about 10 aged ebay BUYER accounts (made around 2009). I just tried to list something on one of the accounts and boom I get the restriction. I call get it removed but had asked if I could get it increased to 20 items or so.

I almost am 100% sure I failed the questions from the database but still he said I just "need this for documentation purposes". If I had passed the questions I would have gotten 100/5000 so did I just get lucky (talking to the right person?)

I never have gotten a 25/1250 by calling in.. so I'm suspecting its 2 things

-OLD Aged account (even though I never bought or sold anything)
-OR I was super nice and asked only for 20 items? I usually ask for like 25 or 30 and they ALWAYS so NO and call in a month to verify (database questions).

ANYONE???

(to the negative people thinking I'm going to get limited within a week now please don't post on this thread)

It's certainly possible to get limit increases by calling. The main reason why it's not suggested is because you're willingly asking a live human to take a look at your account and if they find something suspicious then things will go bad quickly. If you have a restriction or suspension, then of course you have nothing to lose since the account is useless unless you call and provide what they ask for.

But calling when you don't have to is taking a risk.

You might get a nice rep who likes what you say and increases your limits on the spot without you doing anything. Or you might get a rep whose having a bad day or finds something they don't like about your account, and then you get the request to send in documents (or worse, indefinitely suspended on the spot).

It's completely up to you whether or not you want to take that risk on accounts that are in good standing. You just have to be aware of the risks.

The thing is, all it takes is to get a rep in a bad mood or having a bad day and when you don't answer the questions correctly, you're smoked for good. I know people tell good stories like this one above, but it's not worth the risk to me. Increases are very easy to get if you're doing ebay correctly, with 0 risk, unlike calling in, which is a complete roll of the dice.

Hey I agree. This is the FIRST time out of maybe 20 times its worked. I have enough accounts that I can take the "chance". Sometimes you just have a feeling its a good rep.

I just ask them for their paypal and tell them I'll send over $250 to get higher limits and this seems to work. I am so full of it guys.

Anyways I called in last year on 11 accounts only 1 didn't get a higher limit and I got limits from 10/$500 to 240/$8000 was the highest, some got 40, 62, 80, 110, 120, 150, all randomly limits by the phone rep. I had all new accounts with 0 items sold on some and never listed at all before. So it's really strange how they do this.

I had one rep put me down saying the category was very hard and I'd never make it and that newer accounts don't get higher limits by just calling in I need to have history etc. I just wanted to tell him off and say I've done this 10 times that day already. But I kept my cool.

Getting higher limits is very random. I've had limits go up after selling one of my items (same day sold, limits raised, under 2 months old account, so yeah 3 month rule doesn't apply) on ebay. I got higher limits once by the customer getting the items and didn't even leave feedback. I've gotten higher limits once I had feedback left. I got up once and got higher limits for no reason. Don't try to figure out ebay logic because even with documents, proof, invoices, phone verified, VCC, bank attached, you will go down no matter what and when you ask them they'll give you some lame excuse.

Cool Re: 25/1250 limit increase on aged account

On those 11 accounts that you've called, they were < 90 day from the creation date or > 90 day? Usually they say for me "we need at least 10 positive feedbacks and from your first sale min. 90 days, in order to receive a manual selling increase". Or it depends of the rep.

But from my experience, after each call - they manually write into your account notes form an info like:

- When you've called (date/time);
- What you've asked (increase/decrease, problem with case, etc.);
* Reason for the inability that you won't receive the increase (< 90 days, less FBs, etc.);
* Reason for the increase (have called 35 days ago, that was 30+ and all fine; continue selling the same items, etc., account age 90+ days from the first sale);
- Have you answered the questions correctly;
- Are you continue selling the same stuff that you were selling in the past?;
- Phone number.

So if you call and don't receive an increase, the rep would write "Called to receive an increase, blocked, not received much feedbacks and acc age was < 90 days from the 1st sale", and when you call again on the same day these days, the next reps will read the same log/info that the previous reps writen into your account info box. So they'll already know, and will block you again.

All 11 accounts where under 3 weeks old. Keep in mind this was last year.
