Can I legally change my name on ebay and paypal?
 

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering, what would happen if change my first and second name officially and obviously it would change on all my legal documents including passport, IDs and bank accounts. Can I then start a new account or replace my name on existing stealth account as I would have all the documents with my new details. Address, IP address and everything else will change as normal.

Extreme and not needed.

Just use a stealth name and follow the stealth methods.

Thanks James, how big can a stealth account become? Would eBay or PayPal ever start asking questions? I have had one and it's been doing great for a year now but I have this worry that one day they will start asking for IDs and documents and bills... or they might ask for bank account proof???

Not necessary at all.

When a stealth grows, allow the growth to also expand legally. The last point of trace should be your legal name. eBay will care less if you had a business running in your name or another person's name as long as the strings are attached. Pay your taxes and your eggs are safe in that basket.

Stealth accounts can be as large as a non stealth account.

If you get requests from PayPal for anything send a PM to a Mod and we will help you out.

Who does the apply to haha? :) I have a couple accounts that around passing 6 months and I will have 2 that I'll be adding ein to this start of year. I am worried to. Does anyone have stealths going 3+ years? Is this possible?

Its very very possible.... As for changing identity.... That's what DBA is very good for.... Then your bank records will match... I prefer to use DBA as a persons name. Jorge Anderson or whatever your choice. Take that and EIN (your real info) to the bank and you have matching names. You can make deposits and withdraw through paypal without issues... There are many more security measures to make the account more secure. Do not under value starting a LLC.

That's correct GreenBean, we don't have these things in the UK. Let me just be honest I am talking about a stealth account that at the moment has around £15000 turnover a month, we are working hard and investing a lot of money so I can only imagine it gets bigger, the question is after all this investment is it worth to change my name legally and then eventually change the stealth name to my real legal name that never been on eBay? Would changing the date of birth effect the account?

I only want to be sure that's all. It's all I have and if it's lost then God knows what would happen.

Just to clarify:

You have an existing stealth account running very well.

You want to change personal info on said account & risk having it flagged.

You are looking to the drastic options of name changes & more actions that will flag this account as well.

The aim of protecting the account's longevity is your aim.

Total overkill and as already mentioned unnecessary.


Stop contemplating changing your name, get your finger out and start setting up a LOT of stealth accounts.

REAL accounts can get axed just as easily as STEALTH accounts. If you heavily rely on your EBay income, get yourself in a position whereby you can lose a few ebay accounts and still have others to fall back on.

Thanks for the answers and it really helped. I will have to protect the account and also set up others. I was just worried if ebay or paypal out of nowhere start asking for documents and stuff but I guess as long as I keep the accounts healthy they won't ask for anything ;o)

They can ask for documentation at ANY time and as I said there are times when you can supply all the info they want and the accounts will still get closed.
