Bought Item. Emailed seller to send to different address. Wants ebay message
 

I bought something. Emailed the guy with different address. He won't send it, unless I message him the address through the messaging system, so that it's official. First time I've run into this one...

I don't do it for any of my buyers ever. I don't even respond to such request. I report them to eBay too on large accounts in Top Customer Care via phone call. As a seller I follow every ebay policy to a T to make sure I am protected.

PO Box, Shipping mail box, etc..edit address at checkout. Done deal.

I've changed addresses for people a few times. I haven't had an issue, ever. Not even once.

Sell more and you will. Kind like lost USPS items or damaged goods. The more transactions, the more problems.

largely depends on what you sell. In my niche, that would be a HECK NO move

so, most sellers will feel the same.

do it the correct way. Cancel the order and get a refund, then make a separate simple buyers account with your real address to use only for purchases. You don't have to verify paypal, never have to attach your bank, and you don't have to do anything special other than keep it far far away from your seller accounts

I hate buyers who do this. It is extremely annoying. @Yankee is right. If you change the address if the item goes lost or missing you are on the hook at any PayPal Seller protection etc goes out the window. No longer a Confirmed address.

Maybe you haven't sold item that attract a lot of scammer but I would never change address after payment, etc. I would tell the buyer to cancel the current order and reorder with the correct shipping address on Paypal.

PITA when buyers want the item shipped to another address

So long as the item is fairly cheap I will generally do it begrudgingly.

Sell MORE not longer.
Sell several thousands of sales every month and you are going to have issues, every hour even.

I Tell them I only ship to confirmed addresses. End of story. And if they want it shipped to another address, they need to add it to paypal and confirm it.

Small items or large, some buyers just get a thrill with thinking that they can get away with anything for free.

Not saying that is you at all, OP. Just that many of us have been burned.

The seller wants it on record I guess in case the sale goes south.

I agree,
I might be a smaller seller but when a buyer emails asking to ship to a different address i instantly cancel the order. done deal.

Usually it screams scam to me.

I have asked sellers many many times before bidding if they could ship to a different address and they always say no.

Seems like eBay is losing quite a bit on commission :boink:
