all set to go

Morning everyone.
Yesterday paypal was.verified and confirmed and this morning i have registered with ebay and linked paypal.
My plan is to wait till after xmas to sell as i figure that im making a massive mistake to list around xmas. Is that a good idea?
im going to bid and search lots to look like a newbie..plus buy a couple of things but only a couple due to my mistake of paying for a virtual address that only accepts mail in my real name when obviously in hindsight i should have gone for a rentable mailbox. If i buy a couple of cheap things i dont care that i wont receive them.
What i would like to ask is whether i need to complete more things in the personal information section on ebay. For example, add a secret question and password and update the bit about adding a reimbursement method or is that best left till i start selling?
thanks :-)

Depends on what you intend to sell oooo.halo?

I would not wait until Christmas... it is 2 months away.
You are right this is a "risky" time of the year but if you are careful it would not be a problem.

I would buy a couple of things and try to sell a few, really low profile stuff like books and used items you have around the house... it should look like it is a newbie playing around with eBay.

Btw, do you have a working phone number attached to your pp/eb?

Thanks for your reply. When do you think i should start listing.a.couple of things. I have a ton of used clothing, cheap and unbranded, so was gonna.start with.that. Yes, i have a.working number. Paypal have it already but ebay havent asked for it yet so figure they will when i initiate a listing

Listen to ilcarletto, just sell a few cheap items, books, old music cds, dvds etc posted with proper photos taken. Click on lots of items, make low bids on things which are going to sell for high prices etc.

Look like a real newbie would approach the situation of using eBay for the first time.

Or is it a bad idea for clothing....baby vests and sleepsuits etc...totally used and cheap makes :-)

Baby vests, sleepsuits should be fine, just keep it low key.

Something which isn't going to look like it can be questioned.

Good Luck.

...well... I am worriied about the category itself... clothing could be an issue.

I would start with something really harmless considering the time of the year

You could try selling shipping supplies if you want to start slow, when using new ebay accounts wait about 2 weeks then try selling.

I would suggest you buy a few varied items from your charity shop experience. You need to prove the trust factor here.
