Odd eBay usernames? Possible scammers?

Hello guys!

First, I accidentally posted this in the "everything else" section. Sorry. I tried to delete it but could not find the delete post button.

I was wondering if any of you have experienced purchases from ebay users with unverified paypal accounts that have odd ebay usernames? For example, a username may look like: p1k.dayio.mn.denq9.

I've had about three that all look similar & have following in common: They are newly created accounts (like created same day as purchase new)....They are not paypal verified, but are confirmed. Names differ relative to email accounts. For example, their paypal name may be: Sally Jones... then they might have an email like: ]NatalieSmith@gmail.com, etc. They are in different states with real addresses but cannot be seen on google street. Of course, because they are new, they have no feedback. They never bid. They purchase only buy-it-now.

Has anyone every noticed anything like this? Are they scammers? Possible bot generated usernames? Thanks!

Ebay has been automatically creating user ids for new buyers for awhile. They do look odd, but they are generated by ebay :)

Eh if p1k.dayio.mn.denq9 is really someones username thats kinda strange. eBay does generate usernames for everyone with new accounts...typically not that long though. Usually just a version of your first, last name mixed in with numbers.

Most likely shouldn't have anything to worry about. Kinda interesting though.

Thanks for the replies Speeder & Goldstealth! That wasn't the actual username/names/emails of one of the customers, just somethings I made up to show as examples.

Anyway, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't accepting payment from identity thieves or something. I just found the mismatch of names, nonsensical usernames & weird email addresses odd.

After being suspended, I tend to be paranoid sometimes. :P I was even entertaining the possibility that it might be some sort of scheme eBay cooked up to somehow weed out stealthers.. Crazy, right? lol

When someone checkes out as a guest it results in usernames similar to what you describe.

Its nothing to qorry about.
