Going overseas for 3 months, should I tell ebay?
 

Im going going overseas on the 19th of this month, going for 3 months (south east Asia) I would like to log in once and a while to check up on any customers that might have had a problem with an item.I sold my last item 5 days ago. But im abit wary of logging in from a different ip address, seems like it could be a shock to the system.

Another question I have is , my Defect rate is at 3.98% , the fact that I will be going overseas and not using ebay for a few months, will that mean that my DF rate will automatically go down on the next evaluation/s?

In answer to your second question, the answer depends on when you received the defects. Your rate could increase if more positives drop off month by month.

You would need to post your total amount of transactions, and the dates you received the defects for us to see if you will go below standard in the next 3 months.

In answer to question 1, using an ip from a different country can trigger security alerts.

Your defect doesn't go down automatically

Say you have 5 defects and 100 transactions
Just take the amount of defects 5 divide that into 100= 5.0% defect rate

So to bring that percentage down you need more transactions with no defects say u have another 100 transactions free of defects

Than your percentage would be 5/200 = 2.5% defect rate

And if you are going away the best thing is not to log in at all but if u have too I would definitely notify eBay, but talking to the reps doesn't satisfy that they will actually mark that down

ebabe, no way of getting access to the original country IP rather than risk a remote country IP login....?

I sometimes use ultrasurf, not sure if that program allows input of UK ip address. I will do abit of research on that

Shame you're not selling while you're in Asia, travelling and working at same time is Golden, I've been doing it for years. I will also be in SE Asia in January for a few weeks, I'll be ebaying from my beach hut :)

I go to morroco every summer and I always login to eBay , never had any problems , I am from uk .
