Will searching other stealth account's listing trigger a link?

Might be a stupid question, but better safe than sorry.

If I am on stealth account "A" and I do a search for other items that I have in Stealth account "B" while on ebay, will it trigger a link? Not sure I you guys understand what I mean.

I think I understand what youre saying and no it should not trigger a link. Youre just browsing around. If anyone who looked at that listing got linked that would be a whole lot of links ebay would need to worry about.

Just so I can check if my items have sold without switching accounts

I've wonder the same thing, how about following or adding those sellers as favorites and looking at their items for sale, faster than logging to each account

ive done this before and havent been linked yet but it could also be one of those last straw type indicators if they already have you linked.

Why would you?

Think about what you just said.

Yeah just browsing would be too minimal to cause a link

This is what I would do;
another browser ie google chrome
ebay then advanced search - item by seller
type in your ebay user ids and you can see, count how many sold etc etc if it buy it or now or watch them near end of auction if you have that much time.
After some hours you can also tick completed search and sold and will show you history of that ebay id. (incase you panic, ie did they sell or did ebay remove)
Because you keep cookies here as it should be a browser solely for this purpose, never to log into ebay.
Hope this helps.

Re: Will searching other stealth account's listing trigger a link?

What you are trying to do is dangerous, in my opinion. If you have eBay account "A" and are constantly looking up accounts "B" "C" and "D" on account "A" that COULD end up linking the accounts. It is not normal browsing behavior.

I don't know that it would TRIGGER anything, but if eBay ever suspects the accounts are related and they look up the browsing history, that could easily be the nail in the coffin of the account.

I understand that an eBay user may mark a competitors account as a favorite so they can monitor their competitor and maybe my theory is a bit paranoid, but I definitely see it as an unnecessary risk.

Why bother logging in to check on other accounts? Use a different browser/user account and browse anonymously - take the extra step to remain unlinked

Re: Will searching other stealth account's listing trigger a link?

I have done this many times and no problems. And yes I know the risk, but to spend 5 mins to look switch accts can be a pain. Try to look for your listing by the search engine rather than looking up by members name, I guessing minimize the risk. But what I usually do is go on eBay with my iPhone, have it connected to the cellular network instead of your home Internet so it has a different ip, and use atomic lite browser, set to private browsing so that it clears cookies when u exit out of the software every time. Also never log in to your eBay accts with your phone, just check emails with image loading off. I have never caused a link doing this.

Re: Will searching other stealth account's listing trigger a link?

why not just link all your emails together and get notified when a sale occurs? You would only need to log into the said account when you get an email and it wont even touch ebay.

Whats the point in even risking a link when it can be done so easily?

This is ALL you need to know. Use a separate IP not banned, not used for ANY other accounts and feel free to search. Its impossible for eBay to track off your cookies alone if your looking at say Account A, Account B, Account C...there is no verifiable proof those accounts are linked based off search alone. If that were to be the case I'm sure many of us would do this to competitors. Not saying I would ...

I wonder about this alot too. even with the email alerts sometimes it can be hard to find out what really is going on with out looking at the actual listing.

I agree with checking it repeatedly as that is not normal also I think constantly checking completed listings isnt good either.

Be VERY CAREFUL! This is a dangerous way of thinking. eBay, contrary to popular belief, does not need "verifiable proof" of ANYTHING to close accounts. The suspicion alone is enough.

I don't believe this to be a HIGH RISK to an account, but it is a risk I would avoid. My philosophy is to avoid any of these risks as much as possible. It would be different if this were the ONLY WAY to check your accounts, but there are several alternatives, so why take the risk?

What is more painful, the 5 minutes extra you spend checking the accounts, or the multiple account closures that could result from saving the 5 minutes along with notices from PayPal that your money is now being held hostage for 180 days?

I never let one account touch another account in any way. I make sure that each account is different in as many ways as possible.

If MARS were an available location, I would use it! :pound:

But I RARELY lose accounts. YES, it happens to me too. But not nearly as much as it does to many people. Of course, my methods are considered extreme by some and they are more expensive than your standard methods.

I KNOW what it is like to have your source of money suddenly cut off. It happened to me many years ago. I vowed that it would NEVER happen again! I HATED IT when it happened. I had to tell my landlord I couldn't pay the rent on time. My electricity was turned off for 4 days. What little food I had in the fridge spoiled. I had $2 to my name. I had to ask my parents for help! That was BEYOND HUMILIATING!!! I had always tried to do the right thing, but you cannot anticipate everything that can potentially go wrong in life.

The experience also made me MUCH MORE SYMPATHETIC to others who need help. It makes me SICK when I hear politicians making promises to stick it to the poor if they get elected. The poor have enough problems. Most people who experience financial hardship never thought they would be in their situations, just like I never thought I would be in mine when it happened. Most people recover. But it leaves scars. I remember my experience vividly, even though it happened to me more than 20 years ago. It was not a PayPal issue, but the end result is the same.

Bottom line is, don't get lazy and don't cut corners. Search the forums and see for yourself the dangers of doing so. There are PLENTY of stories here where the post starts with "HELP, PAYPAL JUST CUT ME OFF AND I HAVE $10,000 IN MY ACCOUNT" or "EBAY JUST CLOSED 5 ACCOUNTS! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?" or "EBAY RUNIED MY CHRISTMAS!!!" or "HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FEED MY FAMILY???"

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Re: Will searching other stealth account's listing trigger a link?

Spot on.

Been there. Done that.

2011 was the year for me.

One day I booked a trip to New York I had been wanting to do for ages.

The very next day Paypal killed my business.

I had £12k tied up in Paypal for 6 months.

I decided not to cancel the trip.

It has taken me years to build up the confidence to start again, and even now I am only really starting to sell properly across multiple accounts.

No one really realises the damage that can happen - Until it is too late.

Always, always take precautions.

I used to monitor all my auctions by using a CPU with no association to any account what so ever, and never had a problem doing this. Made it very easy to check in and see if there were any complications.

Can be done though I am not a fan of having mixed e-mail notifications

I use Thunderbird.

It auto blocks images so no Web Beacons.

I add a new email account for each account.

I also have an Iphone with a mirror setup.
