Calling eBay about your stealth account from a phone# tied to your banned account
 

Long story short. My everyday cell phone number I still use today is tied to a indefinitely restricted selling account. I am aware that phone numbers can't be blocked or *67 from toll free numbers. So when I call eBay customer support, during the call they prompt me to use the same number or enter a different telephone number tied to account I'm calling about. Now if I enter my stealth number inquiring about my stealth account but calling from my everyday number which is tied to a banned account.

Will this establish a link? Does anyone here call eBay customer support to inquire about their stealth account with the phone number tied their banned account and is it safe to do so?

^^That belongs to my sister who lives out in another state. she always have to 3-way me in a call so I can speak to ebay. its very time consuming because we have to make appointments and so on

You can spoof phone id...if you;re worried about it.

I would start looking at using and registering tracfone for the account as a good option

OP, Don't do that. Your account will be gone in the matter of days or hours.
I know people said Google Voice is not recommend but I used it all the time and love their hangout dialer

Because it has been used and abused. Although I never create an account with GV I have on occasion used it to phone in to eBay and it has never given me any problems. The GV number was used only to call in to ebay the one time and was then discarded or associated with other accounts.

I haven't found a free app or service to use - I do have a reputable paid service that I use.

Free stuff tends to be abused and burned these days so I am happy to pay for decent quality. Let me know if you want info PMed

If I ever need to call ebay, I make sure to log into the account first, go the Help & Contact tab, and select the appropriate topic. You get a one time pin number which identities you so you don't have to enter any old phone numbers.

This way you can call using any phone (I wouldn't call using a number you know for certain was on a banned account though). I use Textnow, but I'm sure just about any app works, like GV as mentioned above. It's not a good idea to verify an account with one of those apps, but simply calling ebay from one of them doesn't raise any red flags.

I did that once. a few years ago

the ebay guy had a field day shutting down my seller account and totally blocked a ton.

Its simple enough to get a phone number - either getting a burner phone or using one of the free apps (which are a bit more risky of course) - that it makes no sense to even bother with a phone number associated with a banned account.

I also, NEVER recycle or reuse anything on ebay or paypal......way too risky!

The burner phone is your best best. Buy a cheap verizon pre-paid and buy a $15 verizon card good for 2 months. If the account is not worth that then why bother having the account?

I just buy a pay as you go sim for each stealth account just top them up and only use for each separate account.
I use the same number for eBay pay-pal and to verify email
