opened case

My very first stealth account.as you may remember was a bad move with address.due to company not allowing.additional names.
Just sold my first item 3 days ago and paid extra to send first class recorded.
Just signed in and woman has opened a case saying that she is not happy with items. Wasnt specific at all...just that she would return to me for refund.
Normally i would question buyer and perhaps.be offhand but i kbow i have to grovel as questionibg her is likely to rub her up the wrong way.
I cant accept returns due to address and have messaged her to say im sorry she is not happy and i will refund immediately and she can keep items.
Have redunded her and im upset that first sale is an open case. I can only hope she doesnt leave me bad feedback with this.
Am i doomed now....first sale with open case. :-(

Some of these buyers are testing the waters.

Request them to return item even if it would be delivered to the stealth address, then refund.

In my experience, some buyers requested a return and it actually never happened. You need tracking to show that the item was delivered. If there is no tracking, you win.

Ive refunded now....she definately received. Sent with tracking and she signed for it today.
Yes, probably testing the waters and normally i would challenge them in return but i feel backed into a.corner with it being my first sale and bad enough a.case was opened but still potential for neg feddback. I hope she is happy to keep and be refunded and be pleasent in feedback

I would have had her return the item anyway, even you you did not get it back, better than she keeps it in this case.

Sounds like someone taking advantage of a new seller to me.

I agree but i thought she is more likely to be p**** off with paying return post and would leave neg feedback. This way coz she doesnt have to.return, im hoping.she will be kinder with feedback.
But yes...next time i will ask for the return.
With my real account in the past, i never once had an open case against me.
So yes, probably taking advantage :-(

Re: opened case

Is this going to seriously effect me with it being first sale?

Re: opened case

Should be fine, just make sure the rest of your sales are perfect.

As far as im.concerned, what she got was.perfect. i just felt backed into a.corner and didnt want to challenge her with it being first sale.

Wasnt even a biggy sale.

There are bloggers out there bragging about getting freebies on eBay.

Unfortunately, new seller accounts go through hell.

Hang-on next time, every cent counts.

Re: opened case

It is just bad luck this happened on your first sale. Refunding the buyer was absolutely the right thing to do. Your account is UNLIKELY to be closed because of this, especially since you refunded the buyer. But if you get a string of these, then my opinion would change.

TIP: Get a PO Box at the post office. They are cheap, there is no need to get a big one. Use the PO BOX as the return address on your address labels. If you receive a message from a buyer that hey are unhappy with their item, just send an email apologizing for the inconvenience and ask them to simply return the item to the address on the label. Most buyers will do this.

If the item is reasonably small and low value, just let them keep it and give them the refund without mentioning the return. Most will then go away. If they ask where to return it after that, just tell them if the item is bad, you don't need it back since you would not resell a damaged or defective item.

If you must get the item back for some reason, offer to send a prepaid mailer for it, or arrange a UPS pickup. That costs money, so I would only do that if the item were of a high enough value to bother with it.
