| Kelly441 | 12-08-2014 11:42 AM | $25,000 limit per month on new account I just signed up for a business account with Paypal and Ebay
Ebay gave me a limit of 500/$25,000 a month right away
Is this normal?
I really don't sell anything on Ebay but figured I would have an account for purchases for the business. I used my real name and phone number from my suspended Ebay account so I suspect it won't be long before they tell me I can't sell. I think it's a good tester to see if they treat the account different because it is a business account, we will see. |
Dmshark25 | 12-08-2014 11:54 AM | Re: $25,000 limit per month on new account They been randomly giving accounts with those limits the last two months and 5000/50,000 also have been coming out as well |

Kelly441 | 12-08-2014 12:02 PM | Re: $25,000 limit per month on new account I just realized how stupid it was of me to use my name and phone number from old banned Ebay account. All the other information was different. I did not plan on selling on Ebay, but it would have been nice to have the account in case I wanted to at some point |

Re: $25,000 limit per month on new account Yeah its random, and also probably cause you used your real information so they found you in the public records so they gave you a higher limit. But at the same time thats bad cause that info was already limited, so you could easily get limited again. So perhaps slowly change some of the info and try to baby the account. Good luck! |

jeffweico | 12-08-2014 01:49 PM | Re: $25,000 limit per month on new account I wouldn't change anything at this point, except perhaps the phone number. See if you can get a number that ends in 00 so it looks like you are changing it to your business number.
If your name is common, I wouldn't change it. There are too many Roger Smiths in the world for them to link by common names. If your name is UNcommon, that is a different story. But changing the name could bring scrutiny on the account, which is best avoided, in my opinion. |
slokor | 12-08-2014 01:51 PM | Re: $25,000 limit per month on new account Changing just the phone number wont make a difference either cause it remains on the record of the account. But I suppose it doesnt hurt at this point cause you don't have anything to lose.
Its actually the phone number that's a stronger link. Plenty of people called 'Paul Thompson' out there - but only one person with that phone number... |
Dmshark25 | 12-08-2014 02:01 PM | Re: $25,000 limit per month on new account Yes I agree , I have a lot of accounts I made with my name and are fine, name alone will not get u linked , but name along with one other piece of information like your phone number, address , and if manual review if the items are the same and name when they view both accounts side by side will cause a link
Definitely don't change the name, change the phone number and than don't start selling on it for a little while just buy and browse |

Kelly441 | 12-08-2014 02:36 PM | Re: $25,000 limit per month on new account Before I do that I want to make sure that my Google voice phone number will be able to get the text form Ebay? If not I could do the phone call too. Just want to make sure there are no issues with Paypal/Ebay with Google voice phone number? |

It's better to start fresh , it will take you 15 minutes to make another PayPal that you feel confident that there are no links, why build your business over a shaky foundation
And than keep this account just take it slow but don't put any expectations on it because you did create it with suspended information so there may be a link, so go slow and whatever you get out of it will be a positive, but don't count on this account to be solid
There are so many different types of links with eBay/paypal and some will allow you to operate 6 months before flagging you, just when u think ur in the clear out of e blue they shut u down for being linked to another account, but for whatever reason they don't always make the connection right away
So keep that in mind |

Dmshark25 | 12-08-2014 04:52 PM | Re: $25,000 limit per month on new account Right so why even risk starting a selling history with this account that may or may not get limited in the near future, why not make another PayPal with all good information and build a selling history with that one
It would be a set back to sell for a couple months get holds, lifted if u had them for off eBay transactions and than out of no where u get an email the account is limited because it's linked to userID XXX .
I would just approach it as the account is linked, and make a new one and also bring this one along if it makes it than it will be a plus but if they limit the account you knew it was coming and were never relying solely on it |
dealagreeproceed | 12-08-2014 05:02 PM | Re: $25,000 limit per month on new account I ve changed first name with no issues in the past BUT yea plenty of folks with same name so number does seem more important to change but even then its already been saved but still better to change it:rolleyes: |

Ebay doesn't delete this type of information, it stays on the accounts history forever. The problem is down the line if you do grow this account and say add a EIN and really push product on the account, you could down the line get limited due to linkage by changing the name and thinking "all is okay".
