Pre 11/07 account changing of hands questions
 

I have the oppertunity to get my hands on a 2006 account that has been very active up until last month selling X widgets. The account is in a friends name, information, etc. That friend also has another account selling the same widgets with a very high feedback rating as well.

He wants to give me the first account. He said that he spoke to an ebay rep asking if he could give this first account away. He said the rep said, no problem. Interesting point...because I think this will be a BIG problem. I told him to discontinue contact with the rep until further.

So the questions I have.

1. In General...can this be done all at once? Name, address, phone, email change...IF you go through the account rep? Especially with a 2000 plus feedback account with 4.9DSR's.

2. How much leeway does ebay give accounts such as this when you switch the product you are selling? I would be selling trinkets, not vero but high risk, and he was selling widgets, not vero but medium risk.

3. What about account linking? I dont anticipate his other account going down, but how will ebay link these if we changed all the information?

4. Anyone have experience with this? Id make it worth your while to give some good advice other then the advice ive learned through searching in the forum.

I don't think you can change the name unless you submit an official name change documents. The rest you can do but might get flag since ebay don't like big changes :rolleyes:

Since it's been dormant for a while you will probably need to do phone verification and update cc and phone #. As long as it doesn't get linked (assuming you had been suspended before) it should be fine. Make sure to start off slow if you are selling something in a totally different category then previous acct since it hasn't been used in a while.

In terms of getting linked, they keep record of your info so changing it doesn't mean the old info will disappear. If the other account goes down this will too.

Just treat each category as if you are a new seller and star slow and you should be fine (assuming everthing else is ok) since each category has their own different policies.

I hope that's worthwhile enough :D

Yea I read that stuff. Thanks. I know most of the basics, ive got one account up and running no problem. This account though would be the golden account, if ya get my drift.

ASK Modee, He knows everything about the older accounts and how to deal with them.

I know one thing it is best to just leave all the information the same and don't touch anything major or even small on a dormant account or account period. It would send up red flags and come to think of it I had some other accounts canceled for this before and just realized this.

i need some help here.. I guess this is the thread which most fits my question. I just "got" a pre 11/07 acct which I need to verify with a cc to become a seller acct. i have a cc on a different name which has been never used before w ebay. should i change the name etc in the ebay account(not even sure if u can do that..)? or should i just get a clean new cc and set it up for the already existing name& address in the account? (the little problem with that that the name address already in there is in a very different state where I am but i guess i could dial into that state before setting up auctiva?) also how about an email change? I really don't want to F this up please help :)
