How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

Hi everyone.

Not within the next month but sometime in the near future I would like to buy a couple items that cost $1000+. A example would be LX900 label printer. Its all about going the extra mile and seperating myself from everyone else and buying this printer amongst other things will really help my business(es) grow at a more rapid pace.

My assumption from reading this forum is I should create a seperate stealth buyer account to buy these products? I assume I would be putting my other accounts in jeopardy if I purchased such expensive products on those accounts with minimal, if any buying history. I have sold items to customers where their was a 24 hour review on placed on their account due to security reasons, this is exactly what I want to avoid at all costs.

I could just buy new threw the manufacture, but that printer for instance is 1000 dollars cheaper on ebay, used but like new. I have a couple other items I would like to purchase that exceed 1000+ dollars too. I don't need to buy these items back to back (same month) but would like to eventually get my hands on these products.

Any guidance on the best approach to buying such expensive products on STEALTH accounts will be appreciated :)

(i do have the possibility of getting my original ebay account back with buying privilages but not sure if I can get paypal restored, so stealth related advice is what I'm after)

I just buy out of my smaller stealth accounts and edit the address at checkout to an address I have access to. This is one of my cash-out methods on small accounts.

I also use my one and only suspended account to buy from as well.

Others buy as a guest user.

I wouldnt use a stealth account when it comes to products of that value. I don't think its worth the risk should anything go wrong with the transaction.
I myself use my real account for such purchases - and my real account is for purchasing only (I do NOT sell on it).

I agree with Slokor.......I would not use a stealth name, ONLY because of thee is a problem, that might cause you a problem......other then that, if I knew it was going to go off without a hitch, then I'd use stealth......I do on small under $200 purchases, just so they have some buying history......making the account seem a little more "normal".

Wise idea.
Same thing I do.
Never had an issue.

Do you have access to a real credit card of your own with limits for purchases? I have registered a few to stealth BUYING only accounts - stealth names, accessible addresses...

Man.... 'all these I read on the forum and some doofus said' concepts are flops.

If you have made your stealth account account correctly, you use it to its best advantage.

Since you already know hassles can happen with new accounts and large amounts, you wait and then decide to make purchases if you must.

Keep in mind you are running an ebay account. By coincidence it is stealth.

It is still an ebay account.

Sounds a very flawed plan.

Just to clarify, you just told the OP to use a real credit card on a stealth account with stealth name, address?

Few flaws there.

I did say my " general assumption" from reading this forum, not from any particular member, but I see where your going with that.

I know I can get my real account back with at least buying privilages, but if I get that back and not my paypal, whats the point of using real info on one when its condradictory to my stealth paypal, you know?

The best deals are usually auctions, bin tend to be priced higher as most sellers know they will eventually sell for that amount. Obviously that statement can condradict itself but for the most part at least for the items I want, bin tend to run higher. (in reply to buying as a guest)

I do feel 100% confident in my stealth accounts but still feel like I'm risking them by buying something so expensive. In other words, its like calling ebay your risking the account, end of story.

Even when I ask my question, you can see why I asked, many users differ in opinion.

I probably will just do what Yankee said, it seems the best approach. Unless there are better methods or ideas how I can do this without risking a account. We all know security is increasing on Paypals end (usa), thats a fact.

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

No, your questions were fine.

It's the sillier opinions given by others I mentioned.

I would expect you go into any purchases with all your boxes ticked.

It's all in the planing.

Buying a $1000 item is a lot different than using a paypal account to cash out.

You have to keep in mind you are using paypal. There's a risk from the start.

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

Buying accounts are a lot less scrutinized, unless you had major buying issues with eBay and PayPal than I cant see them closing a buying account down

I have 3 paypal accounts in all my real information and 3 eBay accounts all buying, never an issue, now if I were to try and turn one into a selling than I can see all getting suspended

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

I bought an item as GUEST from my non-registered eBay account. When I checked out my purchase showed I still had Buyer Protection. Maybe I read it wrong (and it was a five dollar item) but I am pretty sure that is what I saw.

ETA - I browsed as me but checked out as guest.

I would have 990 great reasons to not risk a guest buy

Couldn't have said it better myself! At the end of the day, I'm going to get one...just a matter of how. :)

If the money is in the PP already and everything is good on your eb/pp I would say go for it ,but are you picking this up in person or mailing it? If you change address to where you are shipping it I wouldn't use one that is already in the system under a different account

Paypal can still put the payment under review regardless if their is money in the paypal account if they feel its suspicous in nature. Anything above 1000 dollars without a track record raises flags with Paypal, serious ones.

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

yep I know that's a way of cashing out a stealth account without adding a bank account to it and pp really watches for that . But it is a buying selling account and long as the transaction don't seem fishy even if they review it should be ok .But if they find anything that links you to the seller account then ur in trouble

It's sound so flawed if you are ONLY using the account for buying. Address access is IMPORTANT. Of course, if the account is being used for other things...the plan is hugely flawed.

Have to be disciplined with what I said to apply it ONLY for buying.

How many purchases do you think I would need before I could purchase something like that label printer?

Using a serpeate buying account strictly for that sounds smart.

I suppose I have nothing to lose if its a buyers account, if say they do place a hold on my account for whatever reason. All I would need to do is use a prepaid card, or something along that lines...basically not dumping a grand into a buyers account. :smash:

I'm so used to stealth selling, I haven't thought about stealth buying, ever. I know its obviously easier because, well its just buying. I do know they have security but its more relaxed. I just haven't had the chance to know the do's/don'ts yet, thats all.

Only way even remotely possible is shipped to the primary address on the account from day 1. I get the idea you are trying to bam open an acct pop a few quick nothings to disguise your true intent and than boom hit it for a g and drain it. On a stealth account without serious long term i say 4-6 months normal buying selling history is the only way that works and has to ship to the primary address that has been on acct since day 1.

I disagree greatly based purely on extensive experience.
I run several thousands of dollars through my stealth accounts weekly. Most accounts are used less than 45 days total because they hit the 20K etc.. IRS rule.

danshan 12-26-2014 07:25 PM

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

Yankee you are saying you have accounts that are under 45 days old that you run tens of thousands of dollars through ? If that is what you are saying than I am saying that is beyond impressive. I cant even get a 45 day old account with higher than 5000 monthly limits. Crazy crazy good beyond impressive.

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

SIMPLE MATH.

The $$$$ limit is irrelevant.

Run 100 auctions starting on a Tuesday all ending Sunday evening. Have these items with an ending value of $200-1000.00 and see what happens. 10-15K on a Sunday is pretty simple if your items match that criteria.

There is some risk I suppose. I have not had an issue yeat but if I do, I can afford/handle it.
That money gets spent very quickly after the release of funds.

Dmshark25 12-26-2014 07:32 PM

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

Just open a new account under all your real information and add your real credit card.

EBay will not suspend the account unless it's converted into a sellers account , or if you have a history of many chargebacks, tons of cases opened as a buyer, etc..

Pay with a credit card and you will be protected, if anything goes wrong you can always chargeback, and not need to be at the mercy of PayPals ruling

So a new account around a month old and bam receive over 10k on sunday and send it all out after payments clear and no paypal limits? Have you heard or are you familiar with the paypal tax reporting requirements of paypal? What country are these paypals in?

If your items are not a high risk, it's possible to start 10 auctions and eBay will allow them to finish even if they end well beyond the $ limit

Also on Paypal's side it all depends on the item , but it is possible to receive that much on a newer account and spend it after

The IRS reporting is only if you go beyond both 200 and 20 K

It seems Once Yankee sells the 10 items with high dollar amount he than moves on to another account and will not use that account till the next year

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

I think that is very rare and super amazing. I wish someone would teach me, I am still doing the old start slow keep it low method and I still occasionally get limited. I personally would say a new under 45 day account can do it but I would just guessing say 1 out of 100 accts get by without a limitation. Also just give me a general example of an item that sells for around 1000 bucks with that kind of demand that they can get to auction bids up to 1000 and are not considered high risk? I am not doubting him I am doubting me. 1 i dont know the product that i can start at a 1.00 and it will bid up to a 1000 and its not high risk. I know or think that the accounts I make cannot get 10k in payments in one day without a limit. I know that I cant send out 10 grand in payments in my stealth accounts "fast" and not get limited. I was under the impression that paypal kind of runs the tax thing on a potential not an actual limit on the ssn requirement. Fpr example if you do 2k in one month that would exceed and paypal could trigger the tax info requirement. If im wrong on the tax thing someone please correct me.

yankee 12-26-2014 08:54 PM

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

What is there to teach?
I just told you lol and I am not the only one on this forum. I am doing it on purchased and aged raised limit accounts.

Paypal will request based on projections. Collect a bunch of money in a few days and move on. Who cares if they ask?

How about used non name office furniture? Is that high risk? How about used non electronic autoparts? Next week I will be listing ten 110 John Deere Tractors for example...

danshan 12-26-2014 08:56 PM

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

That is awesome, really awesome, thanks for the info!

yankee 12-26-2014 09:01 PM

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

I am not saying there is not a risk of a paypal limit. I am saying that for me, it has not happened yet and if it does, no big deal. I can handle it.

By-the-way, I am not really listing 10 john Deere tractors and if I was, it would be cash upon pickup only, lol That was a bad example.

I sell hard goods in the outdoors sporting goods category mostly.

Re: How to buy $1000+ items on eBay

I would either open an account in your real info and use only as buying.
Or what I do occasionally is I have an account from oh geez probably 4 years ago. It did loose the ability to sell about 2 years ago but I kept it active as a buying account, I put in my shipping address that I have access to made it the primary address on the account information. I also have the name as EBAY PURCHASES or something similar to that.

I have a prepaid card attached to it (a virtual one) to paypal and I load funds to it, then buy things on ebay and pay through paypal using my prepaid virtual card.
I do all shopping through it and just did Christmas shopping too. If there is ever a problem, the returns and cases opened for not as described or not received works the same way it works for your buyers on your selling accounts.

I have gotten refunds or my item every time.
