Does 200/20k reset happen now or later in month?
 

So I've heard that if you get the tax id request, sometime late Jan. it resets and you can start selling again. Do accounts that haven't been requested the tax id, reset around the same time or do ANY sales after the 1st count towards the 200/20k?

I only ask because I plan on buying some really cheap stuff (dollar store) to build feedback and overall help all my stronger, and newer accounts. I don't want to do this to some of them if its already counting towards the 200/20k.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe that the count resets Jan 1st for the 200/20K since all sales after Jan 1st will count towards next year's taxes. Now this has nothing to do with the PayPal reset AFTER they already requested tax documents. I'm sure someone else will come and confirm

I have always operated off it being Jan 1st. Just did lots of re-listing. So hoping it stays true.

The re-set is usually the 1st, but I give it a couple weeks before re-using old recycled accounts ;)

The tax forms cover exactly one year - from the Jan 1st to Dec 31st. Makes sense then that it would be January 1st for the reset date.

The accounts that have the DEMAND notice on it when you log in, those don't go away until the 1099k are issued later in the month. The accounts that have had no request of any kind, it is now 100% a new year. The limited accounts that have had the second request, to my understanding, but not experienced myself, they never go away unless you add an EIN.

Its hard to say because each year changes. But I have had stealth accounts limited from not receiving payments for not providing Tax ID. Luckily they were reinstated the next year in about February both times. You are right though I have had the box with the request to add the Tax Id there ever since. However, each year it has gone through and done the email requests like normal even on those accounts. My advice is spread out your sales and stop selling late in the year when you get semi close to the thresholds.

vogeltron, you are saying that you had limited accounts that did get released and only simply an email took care of the situation? or they were reinstated all on there own?

They were reinstated on their own the next year at the end of Jan or early February about the same time that the 1099k go out. I would not bank on them constantly giving them back. I have been very fortunate the two times it happened to me.

Did it consist of nothing but luck or is there something you think you did to make it where paypal would let you keep selling the next year on your 2 accounts after asking for the SSN or EIN?

I think it is because they limited me before I reached either threshold. I was limited at like 190 and 192 transactions. Way under $20k on each account. After the 1099ks went out for the previous year my accounts were reinstated.

Okay great, we're in the same boat then. I'll just sit on my hands for the next few weeks and wait.
