Verzion Get Pack & GPS

So after having 3 accounts shut down the same day after using a NEW Verizon Jet Pack I got curious and took a look into the settings and noticed it had a option for GPS checked so me being curious I took my jetpack and drove about 20 miles away from my home and turned off my cell data and connected my phone to my jet pack Wi-Fi and launched Google maps several times to make sure It was not a user error and sure enough it knew my exact location. I know for typical use this is a great feature and might have something to do with the account block. I am not a noob I log all IP address and typically spend about $20 to make a high quality account. With many accounts up and running and usually starting with 100+ selling limits I know what I am doing and it not a rookie mistake. Just want to know if any one else has noticed this or had a issue close to mine.

Well I do believe that ALL MIFI's and Dongles can pinpoint your location. I'm using a Flashed Mifi running on 3G and when I do a geolocation on the Mifi it's pretty darn close to where I live but I've yet to have any issues.

Never had this problem either with my verizon gear, could it be another factor?

I find it hard to believe its another factor fox, like said the 3 accounts I logged on to check that day with the new jet pack where the 3 that got the same call in 48hours or your account will be closed message. I checked and confirmed I did logged 3 separate IP address on my excel sheet. OC I did not call because I just don't do that any more. I use to call to see if I could just find out how to "got me" asking indirect questions about why I was flagged and such. And as far as MM78 response It pin pointed me to the spot. I think this is a new feature they added and I think its a good idea if some one is using the jetpack for trips and such but it looks like it might be a issue for me and my stealth accounts.

Might sound crazy but you could be using someone else's already used ip that has been blacklisted that is in your area with a jetpack.

I guess this could be a possibility. I live in a well populated area and I am sure I am not the only person in the area that has been ban from eBay and is trying to get back on. I will know when I see them in line at CVS buying all the $5 tracphones 2 at a time. :p

Nearly two years for me, but you have to wait or on/off it once more just to be safe.
I have had duplicate IP's when i'm in a hurry from one to another acct.

eBay cannot see your GPS location. They can only look up the registration data geolocation for the IP address you're using, which can be wildly different depending on whose network you're on. Even with GPS off, it is easy enough for law enforcement or the network provider to triangulate your approximate location from the data signal, since the device is always registered to the nearest network provider (cell tower). All 3g/4g data devices and phones are required to have a GPS chip, by law, in the US.

Is that for all wifi modems and/or cell phones even if they are shut off?

Re: Verzion Get Pack & GPS

Well, as news articles have made clear, many (smart)phones are never really off per se, if the battery is inserted. But the GPS radio can be turned off on all devices I am aware of, except maybe some weirdo OS feature phones. The GPS requirement is for 911 services, by the way, and some manufacturers, especially with cheaper prepaid phones, have opted to go for network location service instead of real GPS.
