If you are going to give it a go Daniel your next step must be to find out what has happened to the original paypal account like why was it removed? The eBay you have bought would be much stronger if it was still attached to that paypal, after all it isn't like the seller can add it to any other eBay accounts, any others he tries to add it to will just get linked to your eBay account

Thanks.
check with your seller the status of the account.

Look at its history and see what type of activity has happened.

One of the main points will be if in fact it is OK to use and has no marks against it. Would have been easier to have thought of that prior to purchase.

Actually my original question was just simply whether or not the funds would be held for 21 days, not whether or not buying the account was a good idea.

Not established yet that the account will even work, let alone have holds on funds.....

New IP, changes of info that you mentioned are all going to flag the account.

Have an expectation of issues.

Cannot predict this until the account is in action - 21 days hold is standard policy but NOT always in effect...many factors go into the equation actually

If it was my account I would bypass PP on that one and just link a merchant account to that ebay account.

Problem solved!

When (literally) everyone is saying "bad idea," they're talking mainly about your plan - signing up for a new PP account.

If you do that, the 21-day hold will be the absolute least of your worries. That's what everyone is trying to tell you. A bad idea is a bad idea. You can't argue or rationalize or wish it better (which is what the person you replied to in the above quote was talking about; it seems like you would rather have someone tell you what you want to hear rather than accept good advice).

Also, buying the account without PP attached, bad idea.

Anyway, don't take any of this personally, you know? You had an idea, it was not the greatest idea in the world, big deal. Figure something else out, come up with a new idea, live to fight another day.
