Default how ebay sucks everytime

This has been really bad months for me on ebay, I was really positive on selling again but ebay sucks, I sell on ebay.com, and I am located in the netherlands

my first case was a 4500 usd item, which I sold in December, and shipped the next day, it is shipped with local postnl which does business with usps.com

now the problem was, it was stuck somewhere (I think the customs), and the status of the trackingcode did not update, the buyer was very kind to wait, but did not had any other choice after 3 weeks to open a case on ebay, which I lost off course, so she got the money back,

I have to pay 450 usd dollar listing costs (I didn't know that returned or lost items also have to be paid listing costs),

and eventually after 40 days I see the tracking status was updated, and she received it, only she claims she didn't get it ??.

so what is learned from this, never sell items for that price , and never ship items during the holidays

if anyone can give me some advice to sort things out I would be pleased

2nd case (a different case)

i ship an item to the usa, (a 50 usd item thank god)

seller opens case which only said: where is item?

so i reply with the correct trackingcode which said: delivered

ebay has this very nice plugin in their cases, so you see a screenshot from usps saying delivered tot that postalcode.

now the case gets closed and guess what?: i lose

eBay's answer:

You provided tracking information that shows that the item was delivered to the buyer's address. However, the buyer didn't receive it. As a courtesy, we're issuing the buyer a refund for this case. You don't need to do anything else. This case won't be included when we evaluate seller performance. Note: It may take up to 24 hours to update in your Seller Dashboard.

i mean what the hell, so this means everybody on ebay can just buy stuff, receive it,sign for it, and then say i don't have it even if the trackingcode says i do?

i think it is time for a different ebay with no listing costs/ no paypal / respect for the sellers, and also no buyers with a lower feedback then 10 stars policy for expensive items

i didn't learn anything from the second case actually

Now you have proof from the tracking info updated you can get this ruled in your favour and get your money back, and when you do get it back move on and learn from the experience! Despite what happened in the second case which luckily was for a much smaller amount, you still hopefully went after your money on the first one!

For the 2nd case, eBay refunded the buyer from their buyer guaranteed, you didn't lose anything. And yes most often buyers can get away with doing that

Sad to say it's a combo of ebay and seller.

Control the value of what you sell at all costs. Dont leave your account open to getting damaged.
It's not nice for any seller.

Just a tip - and it's not easy to do I know...but I actively monitor bigger concerning auctions towards the end...tossing out junkie buyers and blocking, even ending the auction if things are looking too weird.

I will say eBay is much more forgiving than Amazon. I hate bending over. But sometimes you have to save the ship. I truly feel your pain.

I don't sell items worth over $250 much anymore, but the items that I occasionally sell over $1000 I will add into the selling price an extra $50 for FedEx shipping so that I have piece of mind that the tracking will be updated every time someone touches the package and that it will arrive fairly quick. As a seller I would be freaking out if a $4500 package got lost. I freak out over a $200 package though. For expensive items even if I have to shoulder some of the shipping or insurance cost I will because I don't want to get screwed over if the package is lost or delayed or damaged. Its for my own peace of mind so I don't have to worry and I will track the package also to make sure it is on the way and being delivered and received. There is just too much at risk.

Ei, hoe gaat het met je. Als je wil we kunnen ook in Nederlands spreken.

Anyways, shipping international is usually never covered.
I just posted this on another thread but even within USA, you ship with tracking and buyer says not received, they WILL get a refund.

It doesn't make sense really and this is what we have to deal with.

Guess the comfort level was ok for OP to ship to USA...but it is high, I agree - the cost of the item
