Final fee for returned item?
 

Aren't we supposed to get back the final fee if a full refund was given?
I gave a buyer a full refund after he returned the item but it doesn't say that I received the final fee credit back.

Did you do the refund through paypal as a direct refund? If so ebay wouldnt know to give you your FVF back.
If it was done through ebay then you should get it back and you can verify this fact on your seller page which shows all the fee activity for the account.

I did a refund and let the buyer keep the item and got this message from eBay after the buyer accepted the cancel transaction request:

You canceled an order from xxx, and we already notified them. You already refunded the buyer for this order, so you're all set. Thanks for canceling this order for the buyer.

Unfortunately, we can't provide final value fee credits in situations where a seller cancels an order.

I submitted the cancel request as: Your cancellation reason: The buyer asked to cancel the order, or there's an issue with the buyer's address

Anyway, I'm not going to fight it since it was a very low priced item. IMO to many sellers have abused the cancel requests, and eBay seems intent on keeping our final value fees regardless of the reasons or if the buyer purchased in error.

Nope, changed middle of last year.

FVF are no longer handed out like candy. Seller can even think they are entitled to them but ebay does not provide them.

Well buyers can just pretty much demand to return anything b/c of the new SNAD case rules. And I don't get my final fees back? >_>

I canceled several items in the last month and all were awarded the FVF credit.

Mind you, the FVF is pittance on my.sale so its not a biggy

They changed the procedure 4-6 months ago(maybe)...Its really not even an option in the sold area where you picked that option from the drop down menu on that item......you have to enter the resolution section, enter the e...bay item number, find the seller who returned the item...do the refund..sometimes you get the fees back quickly...other times its a little longer...you dont do it through paypal direct anymore...

I have had returns opened against me and when I refund all of there money im not getting a final value fee refunded to me?

The only refund im getting is a Paypal reversal fee.

It seems the only way to get a full refund on fees anymore is by the buyer talking to you first and then sending them a cancel transaction request before they open a return!

yah, and you have to be careful with 'refunds' or get zapped with a defect.

I was just given my FVF back. I refunded through pp, then waited like 5 minutes for eb to catch up and sent a cancel for that reason, buyer decided to. Shows in my account activity too.

no I mean where YOU cancel not them. buyer messages you and you press cancel, that is the only way you can get fvf, in my experience.

its a racket, they are keeping fvf and it is bogus...
