I'm listing my first item, any advice?

I am ready to list my first item (I think) on one of my stealth accounts. It is 6 weeks old and I have been browsing on it the last 3 weeks including some bidding on items (items I wont win).

I have never sold anything on ebay before and could do with some advice.

1) I know it needs to be a low risk item.....is a book ok to sell?

2) Should I list the item as an auction or BIN?

3) I have read that pictures can link accounts, how do I stealth this?

Any advice would be great thanks

Have you bought the stealth guide? That answers lots of questions, you need to use an exif cleaner to remove the data on your photo before you list it, then there will be no way for ebay to link it to any other photos you use in the future.

Hi sean

1- Book is fine but myself i started to sell used clothing. Guarantees buyers and builds your feedback quick.

2 - auction is best to begin with

3 Run an exif eraser through your photos. I do that on a mobile device. Also see long term member MM78 who has fab advice on this topic

Good luck :-)

Try to avoid using google stock photo or such - if you can take a pic of the book, do it

If your going to use a stock photo. What I always do is use Grab feature on the Mac. I duplicate the picture and save it separately. So avoid any imbedded tags or anything.

I always start out by listing a book...THAT I OWN. Never use stock images, Google images or things you dont have. You never know when or if someone will buy the item. If it wasnt represented accurately from the get go, now you have a SNAD case against you.

Download Batch Purifier and run your pictures through there...also, it would be wise to save the picture as a copy, NOT overwrite existing file.

List your first item as an auction with a fair starting price...include shipping, not free shipping. List it like you are new to ebay...not a 99 cent start price, but something that a used book (or whatever item) is going for. $7.99 , $22, or whatever.

My last piece of advice....RESEARCH. A lot of your questions are answered multiple times...it takes 3 seconds to use the search function on this forum. If you TRULY dont find your answer out of the thousands of threads, then you should ask. But every single one of your questions has been answered hundreds of times. Chalk this up to your laziness...if that reflects how you are approaching stealth, you wont last long.

List something used, that might be found at a yard sale.....don't start at .99 cents......regular auction style listing.......that's my 2 cents.

Does it matter what time you list your first auction? eg would listing my first item at 2am in the morning raise any red flags?

Re: I'm listing my first item, any advice?

advice: non-vero item or else you will get suspended! list your product whenever, it will not affect you being limited or not. just make sure it's not a vero item. list a book, nail polish, etc.. small thing to start. first item you list is manually reviewed and that is where you'll get screwed. after that it's all up to your stealthing abilities.

p.s: you can set your item listing for a certain time if you really think you will get limited because of the time.. lol :violin:
