Logging in across the border..Here's what eBay just told me

So, it's now official, March 1st I will be living 30 minutes below the border in Mexico......

So, I called eBay just to see what they had to say about logging in with a Mexican IP.....

I talked to a U.S. rep and she said the first time you do it, it will probably block your account, BUT all I have to do is call in and Verify that I'm who I am, then it's cleared up and won't happen again.....

Now, this is for my many, many year old legit accounts, that I can prove who I am etc, etc...

Do you think I was told the truth here? Or was it just BS, (hang on and let me put my tin foil hat on quickly) and they are laying a trap for me?

Anyone have any experience here??

No experience pokerpro...but sounds pretty truthful to me what they are saying.
People move and providing you can provide identity stuff, then i cant see there being a problem.

Good luck with your move.
Mexico sounds amazing :)

When I went to the Philippines for 2 months I contacted ebay, they told me the same thing, but I never had a problem with my account. They said the IP address and location was not an issue for my account. Cant say the same for Payapl though :(

Ebay is not laying a trap for you

I had an account in one state forever then moved to a different state. Logged in fine but when i posted an item, i got the MC999 and account was locked. Had to call in so they could unlock the account. They were supposed to add my IP to the list so it wouldnt lock my account again, but i had to go through that sh*t 3 times because those monkies couldnt do what they were supposed to. I finally got pushed up to some IT department and they added my IP to whatever list. Account was fine after that.

It has been since 2008 but I used to log in from Canada and answer questions make sure staff shipped etc...
No issues at all. But A LOT has changed since 2008 and I used to talk to ebay and paypal daily myself then as well.

I dont think it will be a problem if you will be using same PC with loads of cookies and active phone numbers.
I log in to my accounts when travel to Egypt , Turkey all around Europe and never had a problem.
Couple times was asked to verify by phone.

As i am taking Ipad on a trip i access my accounts at home to establish some fresh cookies before a trip.

Never had an issue

Well, thanks for all the responses, I'm not so much worried about just logging in, but actually listing stuff.......I will post after I go thru whatever and let the outcome be known.....

When i came to the UK from South Africa, my ebay account was fine but paypal was limited and had to call to confirm why my IP changed and they resored my account.

I wouldnt trust them to be honest. But that's just me.
If they decide to ban your accounts theres always the chance it wont be reversed.
Why not think of another IP solution? plenty of IP solutions out there that will show you logging from within the US.

Slokar......if you sell what I need, then let me know......I promise you I'm the least "tech" person on this site....so I need someone to hold my hand thru all of it.

Are you still going to be a poker pro south of the boarder?

I logged into multiple stealth accounts from Canada as late as December 2014. Never had an issue with paypal or ebay just business as usual.

From what I have experienced...the IP trigger is more of an effect on PP..be careful with your PP
