Default Can I start first item at 99c?

Is it ok to list your first item starting bid at 99c? I am trying to sell a book but read that you should not list your first item for 99c? but more along the book price

I think my photos were good and description was detailed

I just listed it for a 5 day auction at 5.00 and it finished with no bids, I want to relist it and feel that 99c may work better?

Yes, starting that item at $.99 should be absolutely fine.

Don't know where you read that its not a good thing. I would say its actually preferable since ebay themselves recommend doing so.

people might have been saying don't buy items @.99cents as that could be seen as feedback manipulation.

Well done on your first listings, sean'.

You have worked well to get there.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I'm not a fan of starting at .99¢...I mean, then why not 1¢? It just looks kind of "hinkey" to me...but I know most others seem to see no problem, so I'm just throwing my 2 cents out there.

I run all my auctions at .99 and all my first 3 listings are auctions. 3, 5 and 7 days then a fixed price listing to the max. Usually get increases under a week. Ship instantly and upload tracking and usually get an increase of day five of selling using this method as of recently anyways.

It depends on what you're selling honestly.

If you're selling high demand items guaranteed to sell (electronics)
Starting price could be $100 X 4 /5(ab-7)2. It's going to sell..

If you're selling other things.. do not start at $.99
You will make no money in some cases.
