| | | donkeykong2012 | 02-18-2015 04:37 AM | Does EBay Block Sales? Sounds like a stupid question but please bear with me.
I have one item for sale with 63 watchers now.
It has been online for just over 15 days.
Over 1000 views. Priced to sell. Hence the interest.
I have had two emails from two different buyers saying they are having difficulty buying.
One mentioned he had reached his "buying limit" or something, one was having difficulty buying with the EBay App.
I have checked my side and both the EBay and PP Accounts are fine. All limits lifted. No restrictions. Nothing.
As glitchy as EBay is nowadays, I wouldn't be surprised if they deliberately blocked sales so traffic was forced towards their preferred sellers.
Please someone tell me I am going mad?
;) |

Read the buyer/seller boards on ebay for proof.
Ebay usually filter traffic through search manipulation, so I wouldnt say thats the case for your item. |
| donkeykong2012 | 02-18-2015 04:50 AM | Re: Does EBay Block Sales? I agree, it is just so easy to get paranoid on EBay nowadays.
I noticed in Buyer Requirements one buyer has been blocked to countries I do not ship to so that is something. |
| donkeykong2012 | 02-18-2015 07:17 AM | Re: Does EBay Block Sales? Apparently buyers are receiving error code 70266 10448 when they try to Pay through Paypal.
Can someone help me please? |
| yankee | 02-18-2015 08:04 AM | Re: Does EBay Block Sales? Have you offered a telephone number to discuss options? |
| donkeykong2012 | 02-18-2015 08:38 AM | Re: Does EBay Block Sales? They are abroad.
Anyway the sale is cancelled now.
2 Possible explanations from Googling are
an Unconfirmed EMail Address, which it isn't.
And Something to do with Fraud Management Filters.
It is a relatively new account.
Confused. |
| Geegee83 | 02-18-2015 10:40 AM | Re: Does EBay Block Sales? I've doubled my inventory in the last 6 months, from 1000 items, to 2000 items.
I still sell around £5,500 each month on eBay.
It doesn't make sense at all. |
| donkeykong2012 | 02-18-2015 11:13 AM | Re: Does EBay Block Sales? It must be some kind of glitch.
I have received money in the account today from another source.
3 potential customers said it was an issue at checkout stage. |
| donkeykong2012 | 02-18-2015 11:46 AM | Re: Does EBay Block Sales? Interesting.
Another account has exactly the same issue.
Both are relatively new accounts. and are in good standing.
This issue must be effecting some accounts.
Done a quick search on Google and the Paypal Forums and this issue has cropped up a few times over the years. |
Re: Does EBay Block Sales? Really does sound like a glitch - eB isn't known for blocking...without suspension. |
| donkeykong2012 | 02-18-2015 12:05 PM | Re: Does EBay Block Sales? I had a customer from the other side of the world going crazy over this.
He couldn't pay so I removed the Immediate Payment facility.
He then successfully bought the item on EBay but could not complete payment.
I sent him an invoice and still nothing.
I have checked at my end and can't see anything wrong.
The PP account in question can still receive money, its just the checkout issue.
But there is a bucket load of cases like this over the years online.
Grrrrrrrrrr |
| donkeykong2012 | 02-19-2015 09:47 AM | Re: Does EBay Block Sales? Just a quick update for anyone who might be interested now or in the future.
Error code 70266 10448 apparently indicates that the sellers Paypal account has an unconfirmed Email address.
Mine doesn't, but a few EBay members have confirmed adding a new email address to Paypal and confirming it, then making it Primary resolves this glitch.
I have not tested this myself yet, going to leave it till the weekend.
However I have 2 accounts affected. Both created in December to January last month.
There are a good chance others may experience this. |
| bjammin | 02-19-2015 10:07 AM | Re: Does EBay Block Sales? I have had the same issue a few times with different accounts. But while they are telling me that they cannot complete the purchase another person is successfully buying the same item just fine. |

I've had an item people haven't been able to buy on a January account, but surprisingly sales before were all perfect.
I'm going to try this.
Will update! |

| donkeykong2012 | 02-20-2015 10:21 AM | Re: Does EBay Block Sales? I can confirm updating and confirming the email address in Paypal resolved this issue.
I think Paypal updated their software around the end of December through to January which resulted in a glitch where email addresses were not confirmed correctly in some cases.
It might be worth checking yours if you have an account created recently. Especially if buyers are reporting they cannot complete checkout.
Or.....If sales are lower than usual. |

It doesn't make sense at all. | My listing numbers are nowhere near yours.
I used to list about 70 items a month - clothing of different sizes and Makes that I know sell. 50 sold a month.
I thought great! I'll list 200 items a month and I'll sell 160. No I still only sell 70.
Like you say Makes no sense. |
