Hi
I understand that bank only verify the numeric portion of an address. For example, if the address is:
694 Aspkin Ave, 11764 (zip) it will verify 694 and 11764. My question is does it verify these numeric elements as a single number (i.e, 69411764) or as two distinct units such as 694 and 11764 ?
And (assuming it verifies address as a single number) would the following two addresses be equivalent:
1. 691 Aspkin Ave, 11764
2. 69 Aspkin Ave, Apt 1, 11764
In other words does it matter that there are letters inbetween the 69 and the 1 in the second case?
Thanks

If you add a VCC / DC / CC then PP or EB will run the address given to them though the AVS check system.
If it fails the card will be declined. Entropay bypasses this check which is why its used so much
Bare in mind that that news article is from the UK and its 7 years old

Wikipedia is not exactly the most reliable of sources....
Bare in mind that the address on PayPal will need to be real. They will sport fictitious addresses pretty quickly.
Just stick to using entropay and you will have a lot less hassle when it comes to AVS

It makes no difference. That would depend on the computer program. It is verifying the numbers in the address and the zip code.
No. The apartment number will not verify even though it IS a number. The VCC's sold on the forum are the ones where it will pass AVS verification no matter what. That is why they are valuable since most cards won't do this. There are only a small number of card issuers that have cards that work this way. | |

All numbers will be verified. If the address is
123 Sesame St., Unit 456
Big Bird, Wonderland
78901
Then it is going to verify
123 456
78901
You could have the address on the card as
123 Sesame St., Unit 456
Big Bird, Wonderland
78901
But on Paypal put in the address
123 Ebaysucks, Sodoespaypal 456
Omaha, NE
78901
And it will still verify it....the letters don't matter at all.

Put the space between 123 and 456. If the address is
123 Ebay St., Apt. 456
You could even put
123 456
Without any words, and it would still register fine. It completely disregards letters.

I've found, for the most part, AVS only verifies the zip code when you are adding/validating a CC

When I worked for an internet company we had AVS failures all the time when people were trying to sign up for subscriptions. It was only the zip code that mattered. This is why at some gas stations they only ask you for the zip code at the pump. Verifying the street address can by complicated and to much of a headache to be worth it since many are not standardized.
At the same internet company we had a second system for customers placing orders for products and we had to verify the entire shipping address. It was a HUGE issue trying to verify the exact format of a shipping address.

Only verifies the ZIP / Postal code - won't use the house number. If you want to test it, do it.
Enter a different ZIP address that matches what is registered on the card and the rest of the address different, it will pass.

As I understand, AVS doesn't deny or accept the order. It is the companies job to determine risk level and either accept or deny order. However, this still means that the AVS itself will check the house number - only that the company can choose to ignore this check.
Is this what you mean?
Thanks

AVS matches to zip code and house number from experience - few posts by jeffweico and others about this. Have you also tried googling?
