| | | jrandleww | 03-30-2015 02:53 PM | Why are 100$ Vanilla Visa cards selling for 150$ on Ebay Prepaid Vanilla Visa gift cards anyone can buy at a drugstore for 104.95$ are selling on Ebay for well over that. Are people really paying a 50% "fee" just to cash out their Paypal accounts or is something else going on here that I'm missing. WARNING EBAY LINK http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...H_Sold=1&rt=nc |

| Callidus | 03-30-2015 02:56 PM | Re: Why are 100$ Vanilla Visa cards selling for 150$ on Ebay Or the other account that is selling it is also their account as well.
Safer than sending money but still NOT advised. |
Re: Why are 100$ Vanilla Visa cards selling for 150$ on Ebay They are not per se fraudulent, but the people buying typically are.
I.e, they use a person's hacked account and buy giftcards with them to cashout the accounts. But this can backfire on the seller as the owner can claim their account was hacked or something and get a refund from you.
Not just vanilla giftcards, similar for almost all giftcards. Plus you have to realize fees at ~13% of that alone. |
| muzzie | 03-30-2015 03:14 PM | Re: Why are 100$ Vanilla Visa cards selling for 150$ on Ebay Anyway, too risky. There are much better ways of cashout. |

| Dmshark25 | 03-30-2015 04:41 PM | Re: Why are 100$ Vanilla Visa cards selling for 150$ on Ebay I'm going to start putting Auctions for Gift cards, they all seem to be going over their value |
| dealagreeproceed | 03-30-2015 04:42 PM | Re: Why are 100$ Vanilla Visa cards selling for 150$ on Ebay yea I just noticed this. crazy. have to be missing something here...:noidea: |
| skyline | 03-30-2015 05:58 PM | Re: Why are 100$ Vanilla Visa cards selling for 150$ on Ebay Yea, I notice that sometimes too.. doesn't really make any sense. Better to just stick with cash instead of overpaying for a gift card. |
| BigCJ | 03-30-2015 07:01 PM | Re: Why are 100$ Vanilla Visa cards selling for 150$ on Ebay It makes sense for a lot of people.
Virtual items are a no no.
Many of the buyers are paying over to get it 'instantly' via email
Thats why they are willing to pay the fee.
The seller writes down the information and then digitally delivers it to the buyer.
Many scamming buyers will purchase it, then TELL the seller to send it digitally or face a negative/case then once they get it and use it, they do a chargeback.
The other option is that the seller will give it to them digitally, then ship the giftcard or info anyway to cover their arses for the ebay sale. |

I will remember to do that in the future. Thanks | And be prepared to be blacklisted from the store that you used the 'stolen' card in.
Ebay may not come after you, but if and when the seller gives that info to walmart or where ever, it goes into the database as a stolen card and the number will not be able to be used in store or online. Then they track the purchase history if said card WAS used. |

I was selling these just a little over a year ago on some of my accounts and I did make a little money. But I did have a lot of people trying to scam me and then I started getting notices from eBay saying that it is against the terms and conditions to sell the visa gift cards and if you think about it makes sense. eBay knows that it is extremely risky for buyers and sellers all together. They sent me a message, pulled the listing and I'm pretty sure it said something in there about not to do it again or you may face account suspension.
My advice is to stay away. It's not worth the risk. One rip-off can cost you 5 sales or so. And there are PLENTY of people out there trying to rip us off period. With this product though it's 1000x worse. Hear me now, thank me later. |
Re: Why are 100$ Vanilla Visa cards selling for 150$ on Ebay the whole gift cards category in general is extremely risky, tons of scammers looking to buy cards use up the balance immediately then open a chargeback or used a hacked account etc / wouldn't touch it with a stick |

But that's not even the bad part. I could've lost a good stealth account b/c I was ignorant to the fact that it is against eBay's rules to even sell the gift cards in the first place! |
