Changing Registered Address on 3yr Old Account
 

So Im taking over a spare account from a friend that is 3yrs old. It hasnt really had much action at all if any. I will be using authorize.net so no paypal.

The current registered address, name, shipping addresses etc are all still under him.

If I change these to stealth address will this be a good flag despite the age?

I also assume it is still a good link to his current account and paypal as the addresses etc will still be on file.

That's the problem with using other people's account it could cause a flag especially if its just been sitting dormant all this time

If you are not going to buy anything using that account, I'd say you shouldn't change anything except security information like password, secret question, etc..

I agree with 123. It has been dormant. It should probably be operated "as is" until you get the dust knocked off, then you could consider changing info.

If I had to change info, that is how I would do it.

Agree with posters - difficult to do without raising security flags...best not to change

Sigh..

But then that leaves at least a pretty good link as both addresses will be current. Almost feel better changing them. I think I had a second account last year with same address etc (before I knew anything) and it got banned but my main account was untouched. Perhaps they weigh them.

I think if they were going to ban the main one they would have already done it.

Dangerous train of thought.

Be careful of thinking that just because an account is not already banned it will not happen.

Totally important to always be prepared for the worst scenario.

If he agreed to lend you his account and you guys live around the same place, why would you change anything. Ship items and put tracking # and you will get your money at a reasonable time. Why risk triggering ebay's bots with these changes.

We both live like 50miles apart but Im in NJ he's in NY. I could leave it but wanted to swap as I thought that changing the address would leave less of a link risk then keeping the same address if something happens. Gray area I suppose.

Not a fan of using other ppl's account regardless of age.../period - so many potential issues but best of luck with your decision.

Build new accounts in the meantime
