| | Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction I have a stealth account for both paypal and ebay. i am coming in on 200 transactions. when will they ask me to add a SSN? what should i do once they ask? also if they ask can i just get a new paypal and keep the ebay account. let me know if you have any suggestions? |
| two3aight1 | 04-02-2015 06:36 PM | Re: Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction Slow down on that acct so they dont ask for it. Get a few more stealths and spead out your sales, stay under the radar.
If they do ask for ssn, dont give it to them or your fcked.
And no dont mix and match with ebay and paypal.. one paypal for one ebay |
| dallis | 04-02-2015 11:07 PM | Re: Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction Pretty much spot on with the above answer.
Don't cross the line.
Total has to be BOTH 200+ Transactions AND 20K, but they'll start to ask when they're projection shows you're going to cross the line before year end.
Can't add another PP, the totals are cumulative across any accounts with the same info, and if you use different info, you'll get shut down because they don't match.
PP let's it go about a week after asking for SSN or EIN, then they shut down your ability to send or receive money. Sometimes they reset up after Dec 31st if you didn't actually, cross the line, sometimes the account stays restricted.
Also, they'll try to report this income to the IRS and find your name and info don't exist. Bad, bad, bad stuff.
The transactions/money total runs Jan 1 - Dec 31st.
Best advice: don't come close to the line. |
Re: Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction how do i make sure i don't come close to the line? is there any way to check? and when i do come close to the line what should i do? Also if they do send it to the IRS and find out its ⊗⊗⊗⊗ what will happen?
thanks |
| dallis | 04-03-2015 08:13 PM | Re: Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction Go to PP and download all your transactions as an excel spreadsheet from 1.1.2015 to present and add them up.
No telling what the IRS will do, but at the minimum there will be a flagged computer file somewhere that will never, ever go away, just waiting to somehow be attached to you in some collective database somewhere, and once they attach it to you they'll be wanting some answers.
When you get close to the line, stop selling on this account. |

thanks | Please confirm if you are using paypal USA
Your flag says CANADA :canada:
That country has different requirements.

Re: Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction i am using a USA paypal account. is it 200 transactions and 20k in sales or either? also do any of you know how to get a stealth canada ebay plus paypal? |
| dallis | 04-04-2015 06:02 PM | Re: Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction Good point, it might not have been a US account.
BOTH 200 transactions AND 20K. |
| shani1212 | 04-04-2015 08:12 PM | Re: Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction For US PAyPal stealth acount, we can simply add EIN, right guys ? Not sure about Canadian PayPal. As other have advised, go not go over 200/2000k limit. |
| epimetheus039 | 04-05-2015 11:09 AM | Re: Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction If you hit 200 transactions OR 20k then you get hit with SSN requirement, which can be replaced with EIN, that can be purchased by Canadians as well - you need EIN LLC that costs 175$ to process and it takes up to a week to get. When you reach 200/20k in Canada you are only required to provide your address which is just filled into a form. You may later on be asked for additional proof of your identity by being asked for your Driver's License/Passport etc that can be photoshopped if needed |
| dallis | 04-05-2015 08:36 PM | Re: Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction The above is not correct. URL below is directly to the PP page about this: https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/irs6050w
Copied from the attached URL: PayPal is required to report gross payments received for sellers who receive over $20,000 in gross payment volume AND over 200 separate payments in a calendar year.
I wouldn't photo-shop an identity document of any kind.
It's one thing to give made-up information to EB or PP, but altering an existing government issued ID ( even on a digital file ) or creating a false government ID is certainly going to be against the law, regardless of who you give it to.
In our digital online world, nothing EVER goes away. If you do that, it will NEVER be forgotten, it will ALWAYS be out there, somewhere, waiting to be found. |

Try to make sure you read the forum in depth.
Absolutely make a thread as well before attaching an EIN to an account. Might save troubles.

Re: Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction ok so basically if i reach lets say 200 transactions and 5000 will i get hit by ssn

Paypal is going to report to IRS only when you hit 200 transactions AND 20k but they WILL collect your TAX information at EITHER 200 OR 20k.
I have had maybe 20-30 accounts get hit with this, all at 200 tranasctions or less. Also 1 thing I tried was while I was waiting for my EIN is I used false EIN (non-existent) and it WORKED but I replaced it in about a week or so with the one I received, so if you are hit with Paypal Tax form you can get rid of it for some time. |

thanks | People here will suggest you to spread the sales, so count your transactions and once an year they get reset (sometime in winter) UNLESS you were already hit with TAX Requirement by Paypal then the account's only option is to provide EIN or SSN. |

| dallis | 04-09-2015 09:28 PM | Re: Ebay and Paypal SSN Restriction My statements are 100% correct, you can follow the URL and read it yourself and decide on your own.
Doesn't say OR. Says AND.
Greenbean point is as usual correct, if they PROJECT your totals will exceed that amount in a year, they usually ask well before you reach that total. I've had them ask at $7000.00 and 100 transactions.
They do that to protect themselves from your total going over the limit by year end and them not being able to get the appropriate documents.
And there are NO 'non-existent' EIN's; if the EIN is ACTIVE ( and it has to be to pass the automatic check PP runs ) that EIN belongs to somebody, somewhere.
Using somebody's EIN or SSN even for a week is identity theft.
Finally, PP and EB NEVER erase anything. That wrong EIN will be in their files until the end of time. Will anything happen? Probably not. But why take the risk?
There's two good reasons not to do things that are wrong:
1. They're wrong.
2. One day they may come back to hurt you.
Choose whichever reason makes more sense to you, the answer is still the same. |

Thank you. Quote:

Is there anyway we can keep selling up to $19,000 (for example) no matter how soon and ignore their request without being shut down?
Thank you.
[QUOTE=dallis;656455]Pretty much spot on with the above answer.
