Is it possible to verify your phone number manually?

Can we add and verify a phone number with ebay right away or do you have to wait for them to automatically ask? How and when do they ask you to verify your number if so?

You are asked automatically as part of the process when you sign up as a seller. There is a direct URL for seller sign-up. Also when you list your first item, eBay signs you up as a seller

Why would you want to verify it manually?
By the way - you can force it to verify your phone by signing up as a seller then NOT complete the process by not adding the payment method for fees. In that case it will 'remember' that the phone was verified but will NOT register you as a seller. At some later point if you want to complete the process youll just need to add the payment method.
But the question is - why would you want to do that anyway? you should always keep the phone number you signed up with alive so this is all a tad redundant.

That's good to know slokor, thanks for the suggestion. Is there risk in verifying the phone number when the account is created? I'm using voip numbers and want to see if eBay allows them sooner rather than later, possibly finding out it doesn't when history has already been built.

NOT SURE I AGREE with your statement about keeping a number alive.

with 14 accounts at $20 per month per account that is $280 in tracfone fees I would have to deal with. Once I get a phone set up and verified with ebay and pp I just let it die. I never once got anything saying I needed to call or use the phone in any way.

Once, I DID have to renew a dead number because I let it sit too long before trying to sell the first item. What I did really was to register a phone with no card. It gave me 30 days service with the phone.

I guess that s a savings of over $3k in a year. I am willing to let a good account die if it meant spending that much to keep 14 phones alive.

Found a bit more info here on the subject. Rather than saying thanks to 2emptypockets and bumping a 7 year old post, I'll just link it here. Direct url to verify phones on ebay is within the link below.

Tracfone is $20 for every 3 months not 1 month, so it's $80 a year per account which is a really good deal considering its for business
