New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

I read around and found a thread discussing the subject. One user said this was due to someone already registering the random address used to their paypal account. Someone else said it was due to using voip lines like google voice to verify ebay. Then lastly another person chimed in and said it has been discussed and a solution was posted, but I did not find this. Anyone care to weigh in their thoughts or suggestions on the subject?

I havnt seen one of these 0/0 accounts in quite some time.
I believe it was a phase and its over now.
Its been replaced by account limits of 5/500.

It was VERY common around the holiday (Christmas), even the past few months. Google voice may cause that (I use it on many accounts) and often get the lower or 0/0 accounts. You can never be certain though.

Most common is the 5/500 though.

Either way, you can contact ebay, discuss goals, blah blah.. or move on to a different account.

Re: New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

This is my 2nd stealth account, first one has 5/500, this one got the 0/0. I'll call them up to try and talk goals and see if they play nice.

I only get 0/0 when using Google Voice. You should stay away. Just use Tracfones and Vanilla Gift Cards. and create history before trying to sell.

Re: New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

After calling the rep asked some routine stuff like current address, dob, stuff like that. Then they wanted to know my previous address and didn't have one ready. Said I'd been in another country for the past 10 years. They said they needed to verify my previous address before they could let me sell so I said it was so long ago that I'd have to look it up and that I'd call back. Guess this one is a dud.

When we create a stealth with a john doe and go slow with history and then finally selling this avoids the identity system check?

You can literally call back. Have an address to go. As long as the street and city are correct, an actually house number does not have to exist.

eBay/PP always wants to verify identity. You can have the SSN entered and everything and they will still nag you. Doesn't matter if you give them nothing or everything, they will ban accounts for whatever reason they can.

I'll give it another try with an address ready to go but wont get my hopes up.

Re: New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

It's not easy to pass their verification for 0/0 accounts. Usually they want to ask database questions. Best way to pass is by having a nice rep.

I always hang up if the rep seems rude/lazy.

Wouldn't they note that the account owner was asking about X and just hung up?

Its easy to make an excuse. Even a "sorry, I have to go" will work in the beginning of a phone call.

Re: New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

I was actually just wondering about this. I haven't had a 0/0 in a long time but one of my new accounts just got a "ebay account restriction" e-mail shortly after listing my first item- I assume this is a 0/0 but the e-mail doesn't seem very serious. Just says they want to speak to me about recent activity on my account. I'm usually very hesitant to call ebay about anything but this seems like something I might be able to win.

My question is (to whoever said have a previous address ready) does it have to be a legit address that this stealth personality has actually lived at before OR can it be any address?

Re: New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

A restriction email is pretty standard on new seller accounts listing their first item.
Has nothing to do with the limits on the account. I have received this email when listing my first item on a 1k/25k account as well.
Its a simple call to ebay. Several threads discuss this so do your research on that topic.

Just be ready to talk about the item you listed and your plans for selling on ebay

Re: New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

I feel your pain.

I have been doing this for years and my last 3 attempts were 0/0, 0/0/ and 5/500.

Before these last few weeks I expected 10/1000, 10/1000 and 30/3000 to 50/5000. For years I got this... now this issue.

You keep getting different opinions becuase they are all possibilities. NO ONE can give you the answer, you have to do the entire process each time and ONLY change 1 variable each time. I expect to make 1 a day for 1 to 2 weeks before I figure out how to get around this...

I use to do craigslist posting and would take weeks to figure out a filter, same thing here. You can either do the work and figure it out or pay someone for an account how already did the work. You have to pay with your time or money... you choose. ;-)

Re: New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

Called in again with a previous address ready. Also seems like they really put emphasis on what it is you will be selling so be ready for that too. They bumped me to a 5/500 limit this time around.

Re: New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

I will *ALWAYS* say just stuff around the house that I have accumulated over the years if calling for a 0/0 or requesting limits. Last time I attempted he said "cool, so you don't have receipts or anything like that?" and I said no and he said thats fine.

Re: New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

Thanks guys! Great feedback.
I guess my 0/0 aren't worthless.

Each 5/$500 can make me $300 net profite per month... so worth a phone call.

UPDATE: My 5/500 , I used a tracfone, the others I used GV.

Just a month ago that account would have had a $5k limit.. triple biz verified PP.. grrrr.

Re: New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

That's pretty much what was said when they asked. Also worth noting is that they said I was locked out of the system check and they gave me the option of enabling low limits or trying again in 24 hours. Maybe calling back later once 'you find' your old address has something to do with that, then again maybe not.

Re: New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits.

Easiest to just drop it and set up a new account. You can keep the email and pp info (as long as you change the 0/0 account info first.
