eBay Stealth Change of Address
 

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering when a good time is to change your stealth shipping address to an address that can actually be used for returns, etc. People say 30 days some say longer, I was just trying to get multiple opinions here.

I would say that the most important thing is to have some history with eBay before even thinking about it. Logging in daily (or as much as possible), building cookies, and just letting eBay get used to your computer and IP is a must. 30 days is a good time period, but waiting longer is even better just as long as you continue to build history. It's better to change the address after 30 days when you've built history as opposed to in 60 when you've logged in only once.

i log on everyday and the account has been opened since Feb. 20 now so I think I am safe it also has about 55 sales under it's belt so it's a pretty good account. I think it would be OK to change the shipping address now, but just wanted to get a second opinion.

I agree with plumsake. I like 30 days, and you having sales history is a nice boost to the account strength. If it were me, I would change it. However, you should really change ebay and paypal and not just one or the other. When you change the paypal address, you will need a new gift card or vcc for address verification. Just a heads up!

I've changed mine and never had a problem, but I think they were older than six months. I did change it both places, EB & PP.

If you just want to add an address to handle returns and purchases, you could just change your "ship to" address and leave the original "home" address, I've done that as well when I changed po boxes.

Probably less risk that way, because the home address doesn't change.

Hold on why do you need a new VCC to change your paypal address?

Great question because a lot of ppl do not understand this.

Because when you use a vcc or gift card for paypal, this is for them to supposedly verify your address with the credit card you give them. So when you change your address, you also need to change your VCC or gift card. Otherwise you no longer have a verified address on the paypal account.

There is no need to change the registered address on the ebay account. Simply add the address as a Returns / Delivery address. Job done.

I read that Paypal confirms the address by looking at the zip code only... not sure if that's true or not from experience.
