Selling was going so well!

Hi everyone, just wondering if you could help me

OK, So i started selling on ebay about 4 months ago and the ebay account has been open for a few years now, I was selling replacement electricals, by the dozen when i first stared, like 15-20 a day, ive had a few design strikes against me and that slowed me down, so now i have found my way around that, and the listing s still sell, but im talking ike 1 or 2 a day now, whats happened?

has ebay slowed me down, slowed traffic towards me, ive sold 300+ units in like 2 months and now i sell 10 a week????

any ideas ?

thanks

It's common knowledge that eBay can "punish" sellers by lowering their search result ranking. That's most likely what happened.

I'd advise letting the account cool off for a while and making a stealth to sell in the meantime.

How many strikes? Do you mean a few dozen?

Probably hit their "guardrail' program.

If that's so, you're toast on this account. They bumped you down in search and you're out of the running for at least a year until they drop off.

Try to start over again new, spread it across 2-3-4 accounts.

You can keep using this one and hope for improvement, but don't get any more strikes.

While I wouldn't describe the account as "toast", I agree with dallis in general sentiment.

This account will be lower in search results for some time. Keep selling, and DON'T push the account. Whatever you did to get strikes, STOP. If you need to keep doing that, do it on other accounts.

And whatever you do, make sure you don't link your old and new accounts.

would be rare to get a few dozen strikes and still be up.

I've seen it on older grandfathered accounts. I'ts not usual for minors to get that luxury.

Thing is with the UK, the strikes do drop off. The seller dashboard can go back to normal. Then out of the blue, ebay UK kills the account for no apparent reason. Have experience with that little trick.

Re: Selling was going so well!

I thought that 'few design' might be 'few dozen'.

If he was selling 15-20 a day for 2 months, that would be roughly 1000 sales, his 5% threshold for strikes would be 50, ( at least here in the States ) so 24 strikes wouldn't cause limit/suspended, but the frequency of the strikes in such a short period might cause them to downgrade his visibility or cause Guardrail to go into effect...

I've had accounts with visibility lowered like this due to various flukes, and not one has ever bounced back, even though I waited more than a year. That's why I said 'toast'.

Amazon's definitely correct, don't push, make needed corrections, don't link, and as Sax4 said warm up other accounts.

Eventually you're going to need them.

It is very common if you had violation or strikes by eBay that they will punish you as GhostofAmazon said i know this first hand this happen to me years ago I noticed a huge decrease in my traffic.

I'm sorry to report that that isn't an eBay.uk exclusive GreenBean.

We US members have the same issues. :pout:
