EB asking to verify account
 

Hi guys,

I have a simple question to you.

Recently, when creating stealth accounts, I get this email from EB:

Hello [User ID],
We regularly review accounts to keep eBay a safe and fair marketplace for our members. As part of our security checks, we sometimes require a seller to contact us so that we can verify their information.

To verify your account, please contact us within the next 48 hours by clicking on the link below (you may be asked to sign in):
[Link]

While we're waiting on your response, we've temporarily placed a selling hold on your account. This hold will prevent you from listing new items. Also, if you had any active listings, we've removed them, and placed them in your Unsold folder. We credited any associated fees to your account.

Once we verify your account information, you'll be able to start selling again right away. You'll also be able to relist items from your Unsold folder by clicking Relist to the right of the listing.

If you choose not to verify the account, it'll be closed after the waiting period.

Thank you for helping us to keep eBay a safe and Blah, blah, blah.

I then call them or use the 'call me' feature and a 2 mins talk is all I need to verify my account.

Question is, is this normal??
Could it be that they somehow suspect me??

It's because you've listed an item way too quickly and they want you to call in, if you don't the account is toast within 48 hours.

I prefer browsing and bidding for few weeks prior to listing on a new account. PP is verified OP?

This can happen with new accounts! Along with browsing and bidding i also found it helpful to add a few items to your watch list. When I do this its about 3-5 items over about a week time span, never two in the same day.

Does this mean its goodbye to my new account or is there a chance a phone call may resolve the issue?

OP, is this a new personal or business account?

I listed 40 items on the day I opened my business account and had no issues at all. The only issue I ran into was when I was trying to list items with variation.

normally when I get this restriction, I just call in and they will only ask simple questions like how do i ship, do i have items in possesion..etc.. and restricted get removed.

Hi, just reporting back

I got it sorted 'google9' ur right it was just a phone call with general questions, and account reinstated, just waiting for my first listing to go up now still not showing and its been all day.

'Wheelchair' its just a personal account.

Yup, just like when you call for limit increases, they just want to make sure you know what you're doing.

Honestly, it feels more like a courtesy call than an interrogation 99.99% of the time.

Its normal on occasion.. I use the same exact steps every time and still get the occasional phone call from ebay 20 minutes after listing.
