Defect rate

I wonder if it matters, how did the EB case end? If a buyer opens NAD case, I can either accept the return request, and refund the buyer, or just ignore it, and EB will take my moneys automatically. Both variants will count as a defect in monthly performance page. Any thoughts?

By not refunding earlier you might also receive a negative feedback and low dsr and those will also count towards your defect rate, which will be affected more.

I can still receive a neg even if I accept the return and do the refund, can't I?

Yes, you can. The only time you cannot receive a negative/neutral is when you "cancel order" at the beginning and that only if the buyer accepts the cancellation.

The whole canceling order thing they shouldn't penalize new sellers for the first 3 months till they get a grasp of things. I mean how many people sign up on there and unknowingly will do **** because their platform sucks anymore. I hate them suggesting the prices too for your product or certain products because 1 other guy has it listed for next to nothing because he needs his next fix all of a sudden your suppose to just give away stuff for free. Start the auction at 99 Cents for 5 to 7 days receive less then 10 views.

Essentially you are correct, you already have a defect so have no incentive to improve the situation.

you can be nagged if you sort it quickly, or if you drag it out. But you still already have the defect from the case being opened, so it's not important.

Of course it is important, if the buyer opens a case - you get a defect. IF you dont REFUND and drag it out, then the buyer might 1) escalate the transaction to ebay (you get defect % if you are proven guilty) 2) leave negative on TOP, so you get defect rate in 3 aspects of your overall performance. Important? You tell me

You can't get more than one defect for the same transaction.

Of course it's important in the sense you run a business, you want to be professional and have satisfied customers.

They make it where the seller has no incentive for good customer service, as soon as a case is open or return request, it counts as a defect no matter if u correct the problem or not

They really need to fix that part of the system

Re: Defect rate

If the buyer wants a refund without any messages prior opening a case, he will probably not buy again anyway. So he is useless as a potential buyer, and who cares if he is not unhappy, as your account already is unhappy?

My question is just about if there is something else besides lower DSRs (which already takes place if a case is opened) will happen, if account owner just ignores all opened cases?

Their theory is that if the buyer comes back for anything but a second purchase or to leave feedback, then that makes ebay look bad.

Yeah, it can get worse.

Either way you're gonna get mugged... you can hand over the contents of your wallet and walk away head held high, or you can let them beat you black and blue and kick you in the nuts a few times, and THEN hand over the contents of your wallet and crawl away.

I think you get three unresolved cases a year, more than three and you get a big boot off the platform.

Also, like they say, you can only get one defect, but negs LOOK bad, and now neutrals count as negatives in your % rating.

Take the high road, swallow hard, refund and move on.

Big question though:

does ebay want to resolve this?

And no, they do not.

Which can be done 1 week after last feedback

Thank you guys, it seems that resolving the case is required just not to attract too much attention to an account.
