New stealth accounts with 0/0 limits verification question.
 

Got another account with 0/0 limits. Maybe I should build more history and cookies before applying for seller rights. Anyway this time when I called in they asked for either ID scans or to verify a bank account. I assume to attach a virtual bank account would be easiest but has anyone ran into this before? Last time this happened they asked me questions like what would I be selling and previous address but when they couldn't match me up they just went ahead and enabled 5/500 limits. Is calling in a second time and trying with another rep worth it or should I just add a virtual bank account and be done with it?

You can add an Allybank account and verify it, then call them back. Tell them the other rep said once you verify your bank you're good to go.

Now a half-dozen others are going to come in and say I'm a liar, but your account is already 0/0. Just add the bank account, call them, and report your findings.

Nothing to loose on this 0/0 account so may as well give them a ring.

It would be a good idea to get a VBA added before hand though :thumb:

How is the account made up meaning name and address are they both real?

Name is made up and address is googled using street view. Would you be suggesting to source a real person's name and address instead or just making them up?

If you use a real name and address they will ask verification questions, which you will fail, because you don't, for example, know what model car they drove, nor what street they grew up on, etc.

You must use ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info.

What if you're already verified with both ebay and paypal? Is it ok call then? I dont remember ebay ever asking me what car I drove or a street I've lived on.. its always... whats ur user name, What is your last name.. whats ur zip code..Also, my phone is real and only used for the this ebay account.

Reason I ask is because the 1000/25k limit is too small I need BIGGER!

I've never been asked those questions either, but then again, my old eBay accounts (pre-stealth) were made in 2008, so that may be why. New accounts are ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info, so they can't pull up the questions.

Advice around the forums is to never call. I say screw that, call.....but in your case, I would actually advise NOT to call. You have too much to lose. If you're listing to your max, they should automatically increase your limits.

Only call if you know you have everything in order. That means no f@akes, no VERO, no digital goods, no policy violations, make sure your account is squeaky clean and a model eBay citizen....

And if your account is stealth, I STILL wouldn't call in. Like I said, that account is too valuable to risk.

IF your account is squeaky clean, AND has your real info, go ahead and call, but if it's stealth, don't risk it.

I call on brand new day old accounts, all day long, and I'll tell everyone it works because it does, there's no risk. But on that account, even I wouldn't dare risk a call to eBay.

If you call then you have to be prepared for the very real chance that the account would be restricted or suspended.

In a situation where the account started off with 0/0 limits then you have nothing more to lose as the account is functionally dead anyway (unless you just want to use it to buy things) - so feel free to ring them.

But with an account that already has limits (especially high limits), only you can determine whether or not it's worth the risk. They will go through the account thoroughly and something that may have slipped past eBay bots can easily get yourself suspended and turn a positive situation (high limits) until a nightmare (needing to fax in documents or worse - a permanent suspension).

It's all about how big of risk you're willing to take. Nowadays it is standard procedure to at least try to pull up questions from public records for just about anything involving a modification of a US account for verification purposes, especially on new accounts without much history (and even Paypal has gotten in on the public records action). The account already being verified doesn't matter. Or rather, it makes the account even more valuable to lose, as you would potentially burn a high limit account + bank account along with many other things.

All in all, it's best not to call in unless you accept the fact that you could lose the account in a matter of seconds. A 0/0 limit account doesn't have much to lose, but as the account's limits gets higher, you risk more and more with your decision.

Yeah I guess I'll wait but I really dont wanna lol!! Yes, its a stealth account but my question is this.. how can ebay ask me prior addresses, cities lived in etc if the person doesn't exist? Where and how could they pull that information? only having my SSN would make that possible, correct?

Well that's why I mentioned they would at least try to do so. For stealth, they wouldn't be able to pull up anything and so that would throw up an even bigger red flag than them pulling up questions and you failing the questions because it basically means you don't exist. Now there are legitimate reasons as to why someone wouldn't appear in public records but using one of those excuses would result in them saying they need to verify you another way (submit your ID and a utility bill and possibly other documents as well), or they would simply say they can't help you. So again, with a high limit account it's too risky.

I know it's hard to have to be patient with these things, but you'll see positive results eventually. Just be the best seller you can possibly be and sell to your limits.

All old accounts are "zapped", that is to say, either NARU'd or buyer only.

It was related to the members question. Since the accounts were several years old, things might (probably) have changed, hence it was a clarification and disclaimer.

Are you trying to boost your post count by criticizing me?

I'd suggest sticking to helpful posts that answer the buyers question.

And when, pray-tell, did I "infer" I know everything? Please, quote the post you're referencing. I stated knowledge on the topic of selling limit increases, and I've already proven I'm quite correct. If this is false, back up your claims with evidence or STFU.

Slow to make progress but I added an online bank account upon which paypal verified my phone number without issue. Opted for the deposit verification for fear of paypal being able to see my account details with the instant verification login option. Will update in a few days once the account is verified.
