Buyer claimed empty package.

I sent a package out weighted around 4lbs with priority mail and signature confirmation...the buyer claimed that the package was empty and want me to resolve this..... This is one of my stealth account with only 1 positive feedback whereas the buyer as over 800...this package was worth around $200. I've never had this problem before until now... when I dropped this off, the package was scanned and weight approximately 3 lbs 12 oz. Will my receipt be enough evident or am I toast?

Re: Buyer claimed empty package.

If the buyer opens a case with ebay, most likely he will win. However, you can probablt appeal the decision and send the receipt to ebay showing the weight when it was dropped off at the post office.

Re: Buyer claimed empty package.

According to eBay sellers, best advice seems to be this recurring theme:

Report the pkg as stolen/rifled to the USPS Postal Inspectors.......................

File mail fraud case w/ USPS and get a police report.......google it for details.

Ask your buyer to please cooperate w/ authorities and assure them that you will refund.

Send a copy of the reports to ebay to help them make the right decision in your case.

Also, did he say the box was empty or did he open a PP claim with the choice that PP offers such as seller put a rock in the box instead of the item?

Re: Buyer claimed empty package.

The buyer did not open any claim. He/she messaged me this morning saying that it was an empty box.

Re: Buyer claimed empty package.

Ask the buyer to scan in the letter that the post office sent with the package since they opened it/it was opened in transit.
If it was opened in transit, they are supposed to tell you (USPS)
It will either have large red lettering or bold black lettering explaining what happened.

Also tell the buyer that you will be contacting the postal inspector and filing an insurance claim as ebays rules.

Sound advice for your situation, for future shipments I would insure anything that value, as a rule of thumb I insure any package over $150.

If you follow oVidiu's advice ebay may make the refund out of their own pocket. It's sound advice to follow.

On a side note, ovidiu autocorrects to ovaries .

Re: Buyer claimed empty package.

I was trying to file a report online and I'm stuck at some of the question. It's asking for the informations of the "person" i'm reporting. Do I put down the name of the buyer? or USPS?
