Non Paying Bidders

I am getting a ridiculous amount of non paying bidders lately,

Why doesnt ebay make Buyer put a Credit Card on file that will automatically get charged when a purchase is made??

I dont get the concept of giving them 7 days to make payment

I have noticed the same thing regarding non-paying buyers. Seems to be about 5%

I attribute it to the new feedback system. The buyer knows we can't leave a negative, and they are unaware their account can be suspended for unpaid item strikes.

If you're having issues, try setting buyer requirements. That should stop at least some of them.

i make sure they have a paypal account (this helps to lower the number of people who create an account just to bid on the item and never log in again) and no unpaid item strike within the last 4 (or 6 cant remember) months .. it really helps

I'm finding that the majority of my bidders are not paying and this is a new thing for me. I may get 10 winners and only 1 may pay if that and this is a popular thing I'am selling and this time last year sold like hot cakes and earlier this year.

yaw1800 12-11-2008 10:30 PM

the thing that really irks me about non-paying bidders is that they dont realize that we get charged a final value fee. On a few occasions i have the mutual agreement to cancel and they all of a sudden decide to proceed with transaction! and of course they never pay .. causing me to lose out

Havent had any occurrences of these since implementing the requirements though

I have also gotten a few lately. Bids the last few hours, then emails that they found it new for $10 more so they are going to go that route instead. What they don't know is that I eventually walk away from my accounts once the bill gets to high, so I will leave them a angry feedback when I can not list no more and will use their info to register a new account.

I sold 6 PS3's this week and only 1 got paid for.

I list through auctiva, Where do i go to set up these bidder limitations? Do i have to set it up for each listing or can i just set it up for good?

ouch, your FVFs must be through the roof lol.. so do you send mutual agreements or just unpaid items reminders / disputes?

Killed by Ebay 12-12-2008 12:27 AM

2 out of the 5 non payers i got their information off ebay cuz they werent responding to my emails and called them on the phone, i sent them mutual agreements and one has accepted and the other hasnt yet.

The other 3 hasnt reached the 7 day waiting period, they should def. shorten this! 7 days to file a dispute then u gotta wait 8 more to get your fees back

Maybe its just me but i just dont get why buyers have to wait 3-4 days to make payment, I have never bought something and not paid right when i won and had no reason to wait

Deb707 12-13-2008 12:07 PM

Well, if you file NPB dispute after 7 days, and even if they just say they plan to pay they can still leave you a neg.

What sellers can expect in 2009:

"...in the coming year, eBay will work to eliminate the unpaid items problem that has plagued the lives of eBay sellers. "We're working on eliminating it completely," he notes. "We are determined to do this."

All efforts, he promises, are focused on a smooth, consistent, and safe transaction model that will virtually eliminate unpaid items. For fixed-price listings, this will include a shopping cart checkout. For the auction format, this will mean money will be automatically taken from the highest bidder's account or credit card and put into the seller's account.

this is going to cause a drop in sales... theres times even when i dont have enough funds so i may win an auction and pay a day or 2 later.. this doesnt seem like a good move

oompaloompa 10-18-2010 11:07 AM

I just looked this thread up

OMG, every other bidder is non paying these days...what a joke

and I cant even use unpaid assitant, the automatic program, as stealthers are encouraged not to use ebay tools. So having to keep a log of when to shut case etc

2 SOBs lately, even refused cancellation requests!! not sure if this is malicious or just ignorance, do they realise dont get fvf credit if they do that?!

helpme1 10-25-2010 01:56 AM

I would have to agree and I never turned that seller asisstant on but the good thing is you can turn that feature off and file non paying bidder form quicker then the form would.
