Not all of them are good for withdrawals. And ALL of them - at least in the US - require your real information and social security number. Anything that gives you access to the banking system does, under the Patriot Act.
A majority of those cards are handled by Metabank, and they don't allow mismatched names. It may work once or twice, but once they catch on, they will close your account.
I believe Walmart prepaid cards will work, but then you still have the social security number issue.
The thing is, unless you are located in the USA, it is very difficult (not IMPOSSIBLE, but very difficult) to open a bank account here. Some people do it through relatives here or they visit a branch while on vacation to open an account.
Maybe someone else will chime in who knows more about this. I am not aware of any US banks that give checking accounts to people outside the US online. |
