Caribbean vacation.....any advice for using ebay?

Hi,

Quick down and dirty.

Going to the Islands for 7 days.

1 legit account and 9 stealth which are active and selling just fine.

Expect up to 50 sales during my time away.

My take: I can just ignore about half of the sales until I get back home. Everybody will fall for the "I was away camping" during the summer excuse.

I can use WIFI to check my email and answer questions through email instead of through ebay messaging.

I know the vacation setting thing on ebay but we all know how it only takes a couple of noobs to mess over an account. I really prefer not to end all listings. But...it might be a good chance to reorganize and allocate listings as they have become muddled.

SO MY MAIN QUESTION: I have TRS with discounts on about 4 accounts. Any advice on buying shipping labels (and uploading confirmation numbers) without going into ebay? I now the standard for the discount is 90% and all of mine are right at 100% so I guess I can afford to drop a few 1-day shipping ratings.

I am a USA guy and will be taking a laptop fully prepped with cookies etc etc

Look at getting a decent VPN for the week. Or remove your listings.

I would not risk my account on being able to get away with the excuse 'I was away camping'!

What if you just took your merchandise down?

7 days - just stop selling - leave the business for a bit...not complicated like MM78 said

I am not really worried about losing the accounts. They are all at 100% FB and all DSRs are perfect. No returns etc etc. The thing I am worried about losing is the TRS discount.

My stuff is custom made and buyers acept it might take a few days more than an off-the-shelf item. Plus...I am the only source and at least 3/4 customers are return buyers.

One thing I didn't mention that matters.....the quick shipping rating is based on when you process the order (buy postage in my case), not when the USPS actually scans it in. I can buy the postage, save to disc, and print when I return. I would be covered for the TRS but I am not sure how to log in from out of the US. I will check on VPN

I would put a notice on 3 of them, buy VPN for another 3-5 and maybe take a couple down. Depends on how profitable the accounts and many other factors...

Oh you can set the processing days 8 days to ship so it won't interrupt your sells

agreed...Id stop selling altogether.

50 sales is better to miss then starting over from scratch.

I just actually got back from a 7 day trip to the Caribbean, I just took my listings off.. And got back to work when I got home. You don't want to risk any accounts with complaints of not shipping right away && your going to be too busy to worry about work :)

Are you going on a Cruise??? And where too?! I went on Carnival Victory it was Amazing

Man, just stop the sales and chill.
You will be away for 7 days in a lovely little place so enjoy the moment and don't worry about eBay.

I did that last month, I went to Italy and I just decided not to even TRY and run stealth at the same time. Sometimes a holiday must be just a holiday.

Chill, we all need a bit of a rest every now and again.

I agree that a holiday is for relaxing not EB.
One thing I will THROW out there Raise your prices 50-75% This will all but stop your sales also you can mark the shipping and handling days 3-4 days when you get in ship priority to speed up the process. But there is always the chance someone wants to ask a question or is having a problem and if they don't get a fast response they open cases leave neg fb open pp cases Just A big pain in the butt you know what your selling and your complaint rate. good luck and and remember that a vacation is supposed to be a vacation.

Quick note - if youre going to continue selling you should use Teamviewer to control your home computer from anywhere. This will be a much easier way to mask the fact your away when it comes to using the proper IP address for your stealth accounts.

...listen.. I can solve this problem....

I was thinking about it during the last few days and I come to the conclusion that it can be done...

I sacrifice myself voluntarily going on holiday in your place... you can take care of your ebay and stuff...

Let me know ;)

Fine with me.......this was my wife's brilliant idea anyway.

I like the idea of taking down my listings. I think it can be done with a few clicks, and can be relisted for free (right?). Problem is some of my things have many "watchers" so I hate to drop off their radars. I think if I "end listing" and then "relist" I have no relisting fees and it pops up for the people "watching". Also I think it will reappear for people with "saved search" things with "new listing alerts". Make sense?

I have some saved searches and one guy keeps relisting his thing over and over and about every week I get a new alert on my saved items being newly listed.

We will see..........

Not worth the hassle especially if you're going on holiday.

Who works when they go away? I know someone who doesn't....:yar:

Depends on what you call "work". Some people play golf for a living and hate it. Others play golf for fun and love it.

I am lucky enough to do what I do, and love it too. The online, ebay, packaging, shipping stuff is a pain just like cleaning golf clubs or fishing gear might be. But the heart of the work (custom-made items) I could do all day, every day.

Its as good as being a porn star or beer taster!

Re: Caribbean vacation.....any advice for using ebay?

I wasn't relating my post to whether people love what they do.

It's to do with actually risking all your accounts just so you can access them while away.

Why bother risking them? just take the listing down. Well, that's the sensible thing to do anyway.

Re: Caribbean vacation.....any advice for using ebay?

As long as the buyers dont delete the item, it will stay in their watch list indefinitely. I had an item that was in mine for months, watched it end, relist, end, relist over and over.
