blocked users

So in my old account i had a list of real losers...guys who wouldn't pay, guys who complained, took 3 weeks to pay, neg fb and just all around pests.

I sell niche product w only about 5-10 other sellers selling the same stuff..we all have many of the same users blocked.

now in stealth...i wish i could use that blocked list but why would a newbie know about that or where would he get the list?
esp if it is the same as my old or other user's lists?

should i just hope the old bad customers don't buy?
what if they do?
just service them and hope they don't cause problems?

Re: blocked users

You really only have 2 options:
1. Copy/Paste the ban list into your Stealth
2. Wait for these people to buy from you

Re: blocked users

yes i know..i'm just wondering if having a blocked list would raise a flag.
esp if it is the same or nearly the same as my old acct.

does ebay look at this stuff w people or software and does software even look for that?

I doubt they check blocked list.....Never heard anyone complaint about getting linked via Blocked List.

Re: blocked users

I don't know if they check it or not, but I would be wary. A combination of blocked bidders COULD link you if two accounts had the exact same list as my belief is that the chances of it happening are pretty low. But that is just my OPINION.

Re: blocked users

I have the same exact block list between all of my accounts and have never had an issue whatsoever. If I add to one account, it gets added to all of my accounts. I have had a few accounts suspended and it never affected any of the others by having the same block list. HOWEVER, even though I have the "do not allow blocked bidders to contact me" checked off, they can always still send me messages...no clue why. Thats another issue though.

Sounds like you're in the clear. IF you want to go the extra mile, you could login to your old eBay account (new user ID, use an old banned IP) and delete the blocklist, that way the info is no longer stored into your account.

But from the sound of it, you'll be fine regardless.

Re: blocked users

I just keep a list of people I do not want to sell to and I check every package before it goes out. The list is relatively small, so it is not TOO time consuming.

If I find one, I send a dummy package to someone in the same zip+4 and when they complain, I refund their money.

It is a pain in the ass, but if a customer has caused me problems before, they will most likely cause me problems again. There are some people I would just rather not deal with.

Also, you can use Toolhaus.org to look up negative feedback a user has left. I often use that if I suspect an issue. If they HAVE left negatives, I consider how many they left, what the negatives were about and how much they have purchased overall. 10 negatives on an account with 5,000 purchases is not a big deal, but 10 negatives out of 50 purchases is HUGE!

Re: blocked users

I like wtfebay have the same block list shared across multiple accounts.
Have been doing it for years and never had an issue.
If youre really concerned about it just add a bunch of other user randomly to each block list for each account so its not an exact copy. But I believe its unnecessary.

I think I will stick to my method. But it is nice to see feedback from people with experience in these matters. You never know when it might come in useful in the future.

I wish I could say I've never seen the same scumbag across different id's, but I have.

Still, it isn't common enough to make my 'top 100 list of things I will worry about today'. :)

Oh my gosh, you guys really have enough time and brain power to do it all. Do you guys work it all on your own or what? Managing my stealth accounts is already a pain in the ashs for me, now you worried about who your buyers are?

There are some bad buyers out there that can do damage or have damaged an account. It doesn't happen often for me , but there are a small group of buyers that I keep on my list across all my accounts

This is especially important if your selling the same items on different accounts, because u will attract the same buyers

When you go through the effort of making stealth accounts, nurturing them to have good feedback and being "trusted" (I use that term lightly) by eBay, it's worth the extra 10 minutes to keep problem customers from destroying the progress you've made. If you honestly can't see the value in that, then good luck to you.

I'm not against this, by the way. I'm just curious how do you guys do it? As if with me, I'm gonna need an assistant for this, splitting task to ease the process. You know, I sometimes forgot to change the VPN IP when switching between user account. Reading my spreadsheet is already causing some headache to me.

Re: blocked users

Start with two accounts m when you can handle those 2 without skipping steps make a 3rd and so on

Just don't take short cuts, log every IP every time, I have a spreadsheet with over 3 years of IP addresses

The more you do this the easier it gets, now, it's like I'm on auto pilot, everything is second nature, changing IPs, user accounts and so on....

Agree with DMShark, once you do this enough...it becomes 2nd nature. I can switch between accounts without missing a step half asleep.

Block the buyer and move on

wtfebay 05-26-2015 10:22 AM

Re: blocked users

I keep my block list in a location accessible to all user accounts. I then update it as needed and copy/paste the list to my other accounts as I log in to them. It really isnt time consuming at all. I also add users that bid on big ticket items that have 0 feedback and/or register THAT DAY just to bid on my item. You register right then and bid on couple thousand dollar item, sorry I'm not buying that you are a serious bidder!
