Cant use Paypal payment method to pay ebay fees...
 

So when you go to sell your 1st item on a new account, you need to setup paypal to pay ebay fees.

I have hit a brick wall for the first time. everytime I login to the paypal account through ebay, gives me an error saying this paypal account cannot be used as a payment method..., try another paypal account.

Any idea why this is?

Do you have a card or bank account added to the PayPal account?

Yes James, a VCC. Though it may not be working. Just want to make sure no other possible reasons before I go out to buy another VCC, which may or may not fix the issue.

I can honestly say that I never encountered that particular issue,,,but what I will tell you with CERTAINTY is NOT to add a second Paypal account,,,,I would simply pay the bill with a reloadable Card

Hey Slapped, Not happened to me either. P.S. there is no bill to pay, its a new stealth, just trying to list 1st item for sale.

Although I NEVER recommend it,,,being that this is a New account you may want to call Ebay and ask,,,the account is useless as it is now, so if you lose it by calling,,,whats the big deal?,,,Have ALL of the information that you used to create the account ready in case of questions,,,of course,,

Verify your pp with a bank account - don't call eB and risk ID verification...

By risk ID verification, do you mean the PP id verification? - since PP is already id verified.

no what he means is that Ebay may ask you some questions that they create from Public information based on the information that you used to create the account,,,RSOT is correct in that you AVOID this kind of scrutiny by calling Ebay,,,but my point is that the account is no good if you cant sell on it, so it may as well be lost from my point of view,,,

This sort of thing does not happen in the UK.

We can be asked to send in ID by eBay though if ringing in

I think hes referring to ebay trying to verify your identity.
But I don't know if that applies to UK accounts. In the US it is common practice for ebay to pull questions from public databases to verify ones identity over the phone.

We do not get the database questions like you guys in the US do, just ID requests.

Regardess of the differences, no one has suggested a viable solution to the OP's problem.

OP: My suggestions are as follows, in order:

1. Try completely verifying your PayPal account (phone, email, bank account, credit card) and retrying to add it to eBay.

2. Simply create a new PayPal account and attach it.

3. Failing the first two suggestions, just call eBay. If the account get's an ID request, get creative. Or, if it's not worth the trouble to you, just create brand new eBay and PayPal accounts. Really nothing to lose here.

Why not just add the vcc details to ebay and pay directly? Don't use paypal at all since it's not working.

The vast majority of eBay buyers and sellers use PayPal to pay and get paid. Setting up a merchant account is complicated and has issues of it's own, it's not for everyone.

Have you tried another browser or waited a few hours and tried again?

I ALWAYS encounter glitches with ebay. None of their links work anymore and do as they say. admittedly i have not had this exact problem.

I'm not talking about a merchant account at all.
You can just add a credit card on ebay to pay your fees (the vcc they have) and opt to not use paypal at all.

You need to make sure that it is not suspended and it has a bank card attached to it otherwise get in contact with eBay/ paypal and they can explain to you what it is you need to do to tackle the problem.

Have tried many times, with a space of about a week.

Will try @magichats option, and pay ebay fees manually.

if it fails, will Try completely verifying your PayPal account (phone, email, bank account, credit card) and retrying to add it to eBay.

and if that fails, will call ebay.
