Re: Selling diamonds in Ebay..!! If you plan to sell Diamonds on brand New Accounts.....there will be issues. |
| solefoodbk | 06-12-2015 11:57 AM | Re: Selling diamonds in Ebay..!! Something's you just shouldn't sell on eBay. You asked the forum because even you must have your doubts.
It will always end badly for a STEALTH account. I really don't see how it couldnt. |
| slokor | 06-12-2015 02:32 PM | Re: Selling diamonds in Ebay..!! You couldn't pay me to sell diamonds on ebay.
With the way diamonds are graded on multiple scales (color, clarity, cut etc) not to mention verifying the source of the diamonds (the whole issue of blood diamonds) theres just way too much that can go wrong here.
Stir clear of ebay when it comes to diamonds. |
Re: Selling diamonds in Ebay..!! Diamonds would bring out the scammers out of the woodwork! Can't imagine it being that hard to switch a real diamond with a Cubic Zirconia....File a Claim, and pooof...instant scam! |

Ebay doesnt know and doesnt care...or doesnt care to know. |

When I worked in retail, one of these scumbags hustled poor, ignorant people every day. I always just laughed and said I don't buy that junk when he tried to be slick willy with me. |
| jeffweico | 06-12-2015 11:13 PM | Re: Selling diamonds in Ebay..!! The problem with selling diamonds on eBay are going to be difficult to overcome.
First, there is the trust issue. eBay and PayPal are going to be suspicious of you as a new seller. If you have a diamond business in India and it is registered and you have all the paperwork, then that may be a different story. But if you are just doing this on the side, it will be a big issue. The problem is, it would be easy to sell phakes and the scam may not be detected for several weeks. So, eBay and PayPal are going to want all sorts of verification from you.
Second problem is the scam artists. If you are selling real diamonds, it would be easy for a scam artists to complain that you sold them a lab created diamond or a cubic zirconia, or whatever. They could substitute your real diamond with a piece of glass and send it back to you and eBay will issue a refund to the buyer.
Precious gems, gold, silver, rare stamps and coins and jewelry in general are all considered VERY high risk by eBay.
It is not that you absolutely CANNOT sell these items, but you must have all of your ducks in a row and be able to take an occasional loss if you get hit by a scam artist.
Personally, I like selling mostly low cost items. I sell rare books and some of them are very expensive, but most of my customers for those are libraries and serious collectors who are known, so the scammers are fewer and further between. But even then, I have been scammed. I couldn't imagine selling diamonds, gold, etc. |

But back to the point I have picked up some jewellery over the years but still have not found a place to sell it, as there is no way in hell I would sell it on the the fifty pence shop that is now ebay.
So any good suggestions on selling jewellery would be useful. |

Re: Selling diamonds in Ebay..!! Not wrong to sell but best to build your account before selling diamonds. Selling these valuables right away could be risky. |

I wasn't calling you a scammer, I was referring to people who might scam you! You can't just open a Stealth Account and start selling Diamonds, as rsot mentioned....you have to build up some accounts before selling your merchandise. |
| solefoodbk | 06-14-2015 07:54 AM | Re: Selling diamonds in Ebay..!! It's not just scammers its eBay and PayPal you will ALWAYS have to worry about. If were talking high risk, this is probably top 5 worst things to sell on eBay successfully, it just is.
Your intentions aren't in question but you have so many factors against you and those odds only get worse the bigger your account grows, sadly. The bigger sales you get may cause problems with PayPal as again diamonds are a VERY high risk item in their view. Plus the more business you do WILL attract scammers and that WILL hurt your dsr's and defect %.
You gotta look at the bigger picture. It's not just simple as "I want to sell diamonds on ebay because I already have a business and have good intentions". |
| joesshooze | 06-14-2015 12:46 PM | Re: Selling diamonds in Ebay..!! In order to answer you intelligently I would need to see at least a dozen 1CT samples sent to me FedEx. PM me for address. Thank you very much! Why would you ask this on a stealth forum? | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:14 PM. | |
