Competition leaving negative feedback

I am sure everyone on here has gone through this. Someone in competition with me left negative feedback without even getting his item. Would it be safe to report him on my stealth account through customer service?

If he is a competitor, then yes. But if it is just a buyer account that you SUSPECT may be used by a competitor, then my answer would depend on what you are selling. Because it COULD bring scrutiny to your account. Somteimes it is better to take the negative.

He is competition for sure. He is selling the EXACT same items I am selling. I have been selling this item for a about a year. I have talked to eBay with them knowing about this item a lot of times. Nothing bad has happened yet. I have never called with a stealth account, so I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't raise any red flags by calling them.

Also when I call, what identity questions will eBay ask? Just so I can have a heads up.

If you call eBay before the item arrives then you can have them remove it. Also use the report buyer feature, and yes it is safe to call eBay on a stealth account. PM me if you need advice on what to say to eBay.

I've had his a ton of times, i can't even remember. I sell high risk vero items - electronics
I always had competitors either report or buy from me, just to leave me negative feedback to make themselves look better. They would buy the cheapest thing too, and then send me an empty box with a tracking number sent to ebay to prove the return. I get a neg, no product return, a empty box, and buyer wins

reporting buyers does squat, because they're buyers. I remember the days sellers could leave negative feedback for buyers

Sounds horrible. I believe it though. So glad right now I don't sell electronics the freaking eBay wars fought for a few $$$ is stupid. You can get someone kicked off but guess what in that market there is someone else coming in. Its a stupid childish game.

Had a similar thing happen 4-5 years ago with one of the few competitors of the products I sell. For us when one sells out the other takes over there is not limitless quantity of these products, so we have an agreement. I am friends with many people in my marketplace and he had an account manager. He called them up and talked to trust and safety and the guy was permanently banned. Like you this guy would use his selling account or another buying account to purchase the same or similar items to leave bad feedback. Same address and everything like the dumbest person I have ever seen. Plus when he did come back he is so stupid he uses the same pictures and background we all know who it is.

Think yourself lucky that he is an idiot as most of them have these practices so tight that you start to think you were in the wrong and are never totally sure if it is not just your own paranoia.

But just hit the report the buyer button and let them deal with it, I would like to see if that works so let us know how it goes.
