I have ALWAYS used ingdirect then changed to 360 still no problems adding to new pp accounts but lately I keep getting a error message when trying to link bank. All of these 360 accounts are aged . So what gives

Been like that for awhile.
Been used and abused to death so they decided to blacklist it awhile back.

So many other banks out there which are far more reliable than them - so don't stress over it and just go with one of the other bigger better banks.

Well can anyone point me in the right direction ? Anything like 360 out there that don't charge a monthly fee and can open a few accounts under one main bank ? All of the accounts linked to 360 is still working fine but no new ones accepted .

I attached one to an ing/capital1 account just a few weeks ago, must have just missed the cutoff. :/

Ally bank, they'll close your account.

Is there anything that WILL charge a monthly fee and allow a large amount of sub-accounts created on the fly? Would be worth it for some. (Like, me)

As long as they don't charge substantial extra money per sub-account.

A quick search suggests wells fargo is a candidate. "Smarty pig" doesn't sound too promising.

Results: Wells Fargo SA with a minimum balance of $300 avoids the monthly fee and allows one to setup multiple 'goal accounts' with the online version. It'll be interesting to see if paypal bans wells fargo accounts in time. (Or, if they already do? Time to google. Seems like someone had a problem back in 2013, but I don't seem to find anything more recent? Does wells fargo allow mismatch names? I guess that might be the real issue. A quick search suggests they do.)

Re: capital one 360 No longer accepted by pp?

Just updated: Wells fargo seems to allow new sub-accounts under its "savings plan" but the link doesn't work as of 8/31/2015 (States "Page doesn't exit"). Will keep an eye on this, it appears it might've been purposely disabled. The link was pretty hidden on the site. Also, the processing for a new account needs a "few days" suggesting human review.

Also noticed in the search results: Both ally bank and capital one 360 allow the easy creation of multiple accounts. Interesting that both are blacklisted by paypal... It seems that paypal purposely bans these kinds of banks, suggesting that paypal-acceptable easy-to-create-subaccount-banks "don't exist".

Edit: It appears that you can create multiple accounts with well fargo, but I'm not sure if the $300 minimum balance requirement applies to each individual account or overall. I'll find out later this month, lol. Anyway, it appears wells fargo works with paypal. Paying $5/month per account would fit financially, so I guess it's not /really/ a problem. It didn't take a few days to create a new account, it actually was instant.

Ally works very well for "Verifying" an account, but try withdrawing and kiss your Ally bank account goodbye.

But this one is too easy to open and close by yourself

It really depends on how you define easy to open. There are a lot of banks which allow you to open accounts online without ever needing to walk into a branch. And once you have one account opened, those banks also allow you to open more accounts online with even less effort (some will pre-fill your information, making it a few clicks).

The $300 minimum balance is per account for WF.

Yes you can more or less do that with any major US bank online. Savings accounts generally have lower monthly maintenance fees, and easier ways to waive the fee entirely. But keep in mind the federal regulation that limits the amount of transfers you can make with savings accounts. If you try to use a savings account like a checking account, the bank will charge you extra fees and could end up closing it - or at least converting it to a checking account.

Re: capital one 360 No longer accepted by pp?

I recently opened two accounts with Regions Bank. I opened a joint account with my hubs and an individual account to use for ****. Both accounts were opened online with a $50.00/each opening balance transferred from our BOA account. I used my individual account to open a new PP **** account. There is a link (highlighted in yellow in the Regions screenshot below) for easily opening additional accounts. I'm going to open additional Regions accounts after my original individual account ages a while.

@Sooner - I'm curious as to why you posted that in a 6 month old thread.. Anyway, be careful opening a lot of accounts at one bank. I've been preaching about this for the past few weeks because BoA closed all of my accounts at the first of the year. I've been struggling to add new bank accounts to my paypals since that happened. I thought I was doing everything stealthily, but when it came to banking I still had all my eggs in one basket.

I'm now an advocate of only having 1 or 2 active accounts per bank. It hurts less if you get a bank account closed.

This thread, and another thread, were linked in another thread so I posted here but probably should have posted in the original thread. Anyway, ...

I have four checking accounts and one savings account at BOA. I'm not comfortable opening any other accounts at BOA and that's why I opened a new account at Regions. I also have an account at CapOne 360 (linked to a PP account more than a year ago), a local credit union and 3 accounts at PNC. I'm also going to open a new account at Fidelity within the next week or so. As has been advised, I don't want to put all of my banking eggs in one basket!
