every time switched to same router but got different IP

Hi guys
I just found out every couple days I swap to the same router, I will get the different IP compare to last time I used it (only last two digits), I thought since it is the same MAC, should generate the same IP

is it normal? I use Cisco Linksys E series.

IP address is not based on the MAC address, your ISP assigns you your IP.

the stealth guide said either change mac to generate new ip or lazy way to swap router because different router with different mac, but it just didn't work on cisco linksys router, however everytime i change back to my main router, my ip always the same.

I switch mac address from 42 to 41. The IP changed to 242.blahblah.
I switch it back to 41. Ip changes back to 171.blahblah.
Back to 41. IP 242.blahblah again.

Sometimes the IP changes the same day. Other times the router keeps the same IP address based on the same Mac address.

So, can you really say it's not based on the mac address? Also, never have I had an IP address be the same between different mac address. All same router and modem

In any situation, Each MAC address gets an IP address with a lease time attached to them. At the end of that lease time, if your device (modem/cable modem/DSL modem) isn't still active, it will give the IP address to someone else. Then, you'll get a new address next time you connect. BUT If you reconnect your modem back again within the lease time, you will get the same IP
