| ebay category limits questions guys i don't understand how category limits work. in the high risk category i wanted to sell it last 2 months i had a $500 dollar selling limit in this one particular electronics category. today i listed up 1 item for 120 bucks and i attempted to list a second item for 300 and it won't let me list anymore items in the category for the entire month........ please explain this. |
Re: ebay category limits questions There's probably also a limit on how much the item can cost.... |
solefoodbk | 07-08-2015 11:08 PM | Re: ebay category limits questions Some accounts get them others don't.
If you call in they lie and say ALL accounts get the category limit but thats false. |
xxrange | 07-09-2015 01:06 AM | Re: ebay category limits questions Takes about 1-3 months before the limits are lifted or increased |
JaysElectronix | 07-09-2015 03:32 AM | Re: ebay category limits questions What if I created a new acct with verified PP and when I look at my My EBay - Selling page the tab that shows your monthly selling limits is not there. What does that mean? I still haven't sold an item yet, but have purchased an item from someone. |

Mobiles the limit may be 1 item, laptops 1, new playstation games 4 etc, per month.
This is a very good example of the benefits of operating multiple stealths. :) |
empirestate | 07-09-2015 04:03 PM | Re: ebay category limits questions What you should do is have several accounts and try to sell 1 item on each account to start the countdown of 90days. |
solefoodbk | 07-09-2015 09:17 PM | Re: ebay category limits questions I don't think you can remove the category limits once they are implemented. I've tried and have yet to be successful.
I WAS able to increase my limits overall but couldn't increase my "category limits".. |
tmansback | 07-10-2015 12:10 AM | Re: ebay category limits questions Even if you have a new account with 1000/25,000 limits you have to deal with category limits. Which in a way limits the value of those type of accounts. |

New accounts with those limits are cool and all but you still have to treat it like it has 10/1000.
If you start listing crazy on it you WILL get limited.
Those limits shouldn't be really used until the 90 day period ends. |

hit the nail on the head
10/1000's are good in their own way, but the larger accounts do have those big fat limits waiting to be used as soon as you get that trust established
90 days = trusted
growth should be more linear, less exponential |
muzzie | 07-10-2015 04:40 AM | Re: ebay category limits questions Before your account is at least 3 month old, certain categories have limits. For example, "software" has a limit of 5 items per month. Not sure about total sales amount. |

My first "trial stealth" which was made incorrectly got suspended on eBay but my Paypal was okay. About a year later I got a email saying "we limited you due to selling counterfeit software". Of course this is kind of suspension has no appeal, not that I cared because I wasn't going to use it anyways.
The "counterfeit software" was Microsoft Office 2007 home, which was bought FROM BESTBUY. The buyer even left feedback at the time....so a year later they limit me? Ever since then, never sold software again. |
smitheym | 07-10-2015 04:51 PM | Re: ebay category limits questions Try listing in a different category, and right after you list the item, go back and revise and change the category. I have done that on several of my newer accounts and it works :) |
Smoothness | 07-11-2015 03:17 PM | Re: ebay category limits questions according to what i have seen, (fme) everyone has category limits in the first 90 days. like 5 computer/tablets. 1 game console or game i believe. i forgot most of them. i know some clothes have limits if they have brands. but you shouldnt be selling those items anyways in the first 90 days. (i wouldnt at all) |

Knotorious | 07-13-2015 07:18 PM | Re: ebay category limits questions Try listing them in another random/similar category for awhile . For me in the past category limits lasted a month or two. You may lose some views for people not finding you in the proper category but its worth it if you want to keep selling . If you think about it lots of items could go in multiple categories. |
Knotorious | 07-13-2015 07:19 PM | Re: ebay category limits questions For Example You got some v.intage tees/jackets you wanna sell .
Of course you go for Clothing, etc cate.gory, but soon thats limited. Try S.porting goods, then S.ports memorabilia. |
Smoothness | 07-13-2015 07:23 PM | Re: ebay category limits questions Call eBay and they will explain category limits. And how many of what item. They are stupid but it's very specific. | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 10:55 AM. | |
