Questions about Second Chance/private listings

I recently (within the last 30 days) sold 2 vero items from a legitimate dealer successfully to two different people. Im planning on selling more but I'm scared that it's going to see too fishy if ebay/paypal check my feedback and see the same vero item numerous times (they might ask me where i'm getting them etc).

Would make my listings private so people can't see what it was make it safer for me to sell more of the same items?

Also i'm thinking is it a good idea, in order to save myself some trouble, to just offer second chance offers to the bidders who lost the item, therefore avoiding the whole relisting process all together?

Again, I'm scared ebay and paypal will get suspicious. I mean as long as no one raises claims they should be happy after all they're getting fee money, etc. Still i'm not sure...what do you guys think??

Thanks in advance.

ALWAYS make your VERO listing Private.
Think about it from a buyers point of view.

I am wanting to buy from you.
I look at your feedback.
You have sold the SAME item 19 times this week.....
You have a feedback of 28 (or what ever)
Does not look good to me.

ALL my auctions/BIN items have been private for over 2 years.
When buyers ask why?
I tell them that I think that what I sell and what you buy is no ones business except yours and mine.
It is a privacy issue.

They usually like that answer.

Ok that's very helpful you make a good point. Even though...ive sold it 2 times already...hope it won't matter..Anyway how bout from ebay's point of view? will they care i'm selling the same thing so many times?

Also...i realize one thing now that may be too late. If i do the Second Chance theres no way to make it private anymore right? As it wasn't initially private?

PS- im looking at ebay help center on how to make a private listing and it only mentions the bidders' IDs being private. How bout the item that I sold? Is it also going to be private or do I have to do something for this?

You CANT make your feedbacks private when your selling an item. If its possible please show us how. But i dont think it can be done. You may have to wait 90 days until your feedback details gets wiped off.

let me know how this works out for you

Actually you can just go to "choose how youd like to sell your item" choose make private. All my listings are private regardless of what it is.

No one EVER said anything about PRIVATE FEEDBACK.
If you were to re-read the thread you would see we are talking about a PRIVATE AUCTION.

If you do not understand the difference then please do a little research and learn the terminology.

HWGA I'm still curious as to whether private auction will make the title of my auction private also. It won't do me any good if my bidders are private but the name of my product still appears in my feedback list. I'm guessing that private auction will also make the title private but I'd appreciate your confirmation on this.

Also what about second chance offers? Can i make those private even though the initial auction wasn't? If not I'm going to end up asking them if they'd like a second chance offer through PM and then set up a new private BuyItNow Auction for each of my second chance eligibles.

Even the title of the auction which mentions the product brand collegeguy?

^^^^^^^^^^^^
Go through some sellers feedback on eBay.
When you se feedback from a buyer that has been left for a seller and you have NO IDEA what the buyer bought because it does not say.....
That was a private auction/BIN item.

If your original item was private then 2nd chance will be also.
If your original item was NOT private then the 2nd chance wont be either.

Johnny_88....
Just make a item you sell a private auction/BIN and see for yourself how it works.
You will never learn if you do not do it.

Step off the curb into traffic you will get hit a few times before you cross the street....
But you will make it across.....
If you do not step off the curb you will never make it across the street and you will never get anywhere.

Johnny_88 12-22-2008 06:19 PM

heh..of course i'll never learn if i don't try but being stupid enough to cross a street with that many trouble or cars without looking both ways would be pretty foolish also. This being the reason i obviously had to ask someone first in order to make sure. What good would trying have been if it would have landed me on limited? Now that you have told me, i know, and therefore i can be sure private will assure me a private listing name also (my initial question). So, I'm ready to try and will do so as soon as i get my next feedback.

Thanks for your help.

Now i am stuck with yet another dilemma. Second chancing people that have already bid on my item before feels a lot more comfortable and less risky with me rather than starting a new private auction and risking competitor/pesty buyer issues. I'm debating whether i should PM my previous buyers, and if they agree I'll post a private BIN auction just for them. If not, on to the next second chance bidder.

Does anybody know from experience whether I'll be safer from ebay suspicion by
-PMing my "second chancers" in order to set up a safe assuring private BIN
or
- should I just start a new auction and hope for the best?

Seems like PMing would be a good solution to avoid both
-a public second chance (since my initial listing was public)
-and a new auction.

in my experience less half of all second chanced buyers will even go for a second chance at their previous bid.

what im saying is its worth a try, but other than a sales perspective, you shouldn't worry about anything else or how it looks, have to set up private auctions or pming people. just a matter of how fast you want your money and how sure.

Johnny, keep in mind that you are selling VeRo. Be careful about that. Try not to assume that having private auctions will mean hundreds of dollars from sales. Look to diversify your items when you can.

By diversify do you mean change up the brands? or the items all together? Right now these vero items are the only thing I have going so its kind of hard to switch anything up unless i sell some things lying around the house. Hmm...
