I opened an email from Ebay without disabling images
 

I forgot to disable images in gmail opened up an email sent by Ebay from the IP address of another account. Are these accounts linked now?

Doing this once is usually fine, more than once is a problem.

I thought Gmail doesn't send IP information to ebay?

I've heard that too, that Google stores the images on THEIR servers. But I don't know enough about it to know if loading the images is safe.

My take on it is, better to have them disabled, that way if it IS true that Google does this, it just serves as an added layer of protection.

You should be okay.

I did this on my stealths for the first 3 months on complete accident.

I was using and still am using my iphone for all my emails and they're still fine. Its kinda like photos. Its not something that gets you suspended quickly like a IP linkage. These types of things need ALOT of repeated use to create a STRONG linkage. Keep in mind if eBay were to ban all users for something like this, they'd be out of business.

Its the flash cookies that cause the problems with the email as far as I recal, when you open an email the images link to the ebay flash cookie and most of the time I think this stuff does not become a problem until they are looking at your account for other reasons.

Never had any issues with ebay images on Mail client (mac). I don't think it is possible with mail clients, but if you are using any browser (chrome, firefox etc.) you should better block all external images.
