eBay identity check service
 

I am wondering what kind of service eBay uses for identity check, specially this question with 2 digits ss number, usually you can find information when person gives you ss number himself, but can you find ss number , if person gives you name and address

I worked at PayPal several years ago in the department that handles talking to people when their accounts got limited (so I know what they look for and know how to avoid getting limited) and they use a proprietary software in house to verify ID. By the way, I'm glad I no longer work there.

I worked for LexisNexis (aka ChoicePoint at the time), not EB or PP.

I really did back in 2007. It was only for six months but it was long enough. I was glad to see this forum because to me I saw too many instances where sellers got shafted by buyers. I have taken what I learned during my short employment and used it to run my eBay business knowing what brings up a red flag to eb/ppl.

It was being called every bad name in the book that got to me. The thing is I felt bad for the callers but there was nothing I could do. When my own paypal account got limited for no reason was when I realized how messed up the system is. I did nothing wrong and there was no good reason my account was limited so it made me realize this is happening to a lot of other sellers too and they are probably as innocent as I was.
